Earlier today I started getting people telling me that they're hearing a lot of static when they call me. I tested the mic in visual voicemail by recording a voice message, and it sounds fine. I then got someone elses phone and called it and could hear tones of static when I tried to speak. What could this be from?
No, I'm not using a headset, case, or anything that could obstruct the microphone. I'm in a great cell reception area with full bars.
I just restored the phone, and it's still happening. Does this mean I have to take it in? :-\

It's possible, yeah. I would make an appointment with a genius since you already restored.

3G uses more than one tower at a time.

Ok.. thats awesome.. so the OP will connect to the three closest towers...
The point is.. the OP should try to powercycle his device to eliminate static.

Well I took my phone back to an Apple store and they gave me a brand new one on the spot. 8-)

I think some of you missed the fact that the OP restored, which means he/she has rebooted the phone at least once.
