View Full Version : missing icons :S HELP!

(i have an iphone 3g, obviously.)
here's what happened:
i had my phone jailbroken, and everything was fine. i used the catergories app and put my icons into catergories. i had to restore my phone because it started freezing alot and needing to restart. so i restore through itunes and have a backup and everything, that was all fine. EXCEPT, because my settings app and my stocks app were in a catergory .. those icons are now missing! i don't really care about the stocks app, the economy isnt worth following right now anyway, but i kind of need my settings app. what do i do?

i don't mind losing music and stuff; but i need my contacts and calender events!

help please, thank you.

Go into settings and toggle restrictions on and off.

I'm not sure if that will work or not...you can try 2 things if that doesn't work. Re-jailbreak and reinstall categories as well as set up the exact same folders as before and see if you can get them back that way...or you can restore and set up as a new phone.

I second BrownGem....someone else had the same issue...and the same advice fixed the issue:

"Toggling the Restrictions settings may undo Categories' functionality..."

I'm not sure if that will work or not...you can try 2 things if that doesn't work. Re-jailbreak and reinstall categories as well as set up the exact same folders as before and see if you can get them back that way...or you can restore and set up as a new phone.

I know first hand that this method will work.

ill try the re-jailbreak. restoring as a new phone loses my contacts and calender events .. i am nothing without my calender events !! :'(

Just reviewed the post. The settings icon was hidden. Lesson learned. Don't hide that icon! I guess re jailbreaking had to be done. Simple fix turned into major headache. :)

Do you have Poof or SBSettings(which has Poof in More)?
You can toggle Setting on/off using these apps.

Or if you have Cydia, install Poof and re-enable Settings from there...

Sorry I did not fully get your situation...just trying to help.
