I have downloaded an excellent flashcards program to learn Chinese - only catch is I need to manually create all the flashcards myself! It's taking many days, maybe weeks and want to back up the file
I have both iPhone Browser and DiscAid on my laptop and used iPhoneBrowser to back up the file with the vital data to my hard drive
I now need to know: can I use either of those programs or anything else to copy the backup file to the specific folder it came from on the iPhone in case I lose everything?
I asked DiscAid and all they say is you can copy to the root folder, media folder and DiscAid folder - that's no good! I need to copy back to its exact original folder to make sure it runs smoothly
thanks folks!

Yes, you can drag that file right back over to the root folder it came from with iPhoneBrowser.

wow, that's fantastic, took just a few minutes
but please forgive me for wanting to clarify
when you say "root folder" you mean original folder, right?
I don't want to transfer back to the iPhone's root folder
hope that isn't being too dumb
and thanks for your help - I'd put a thanks note but not allowed to yet :)

You're welcome :)

I mean the original Application folder in the iPhone that you access with iPhoneBrowser. The same one that you copied the file from. There is no need to do it at this point, it's only a back up in case you lose the file. You just need to do this if you have to reinstall the app or get a new phone etc. For now, just keep the file in a safe place (backed up to CD etc) in case you ever need it. I drag files (wallpapers, icons, etc) into the phone with iPhoneBrowser all the time for customizing.
