I was just thinking, with people so concerned with the all mighty dollar these days, would apple keep the 3G around for a while after the introduction of the new iPhone? The 3G being a cheaper entry option and having the new iPhone more of a "Pro" series that cost more. Or do you think that the recent non-subsidized phone prices mean that they are cleaning house?

Thoughts?

You certainly can't buy a 1rst Gen Iphone (from A T T anyway) these days...only a 3G. It is highly possible that only the new Iphone will be an option once it arrives. Maybe the plans will eventually include a product "line" where more than one type of Iphone is available. Apple definitely does not follow the crowd in this regard. Only time will tell.

people also think that apple will announce more than one phone this summer, so one could be a replacement of the 3g, and then also a higher end phone

The way Apple usually handles new iPods, once the new model is available, the older on is no longer available.
