Hokay, so here's the details:
I tried to upgrade to the firmware 3.0 BETA and signed up for the $99 Standard development thing, however for some reason I haven't received an e-mail about my enrollment yet. I already upgraded the phone to 3.0 (heh, bad idea on my part), and pretty much made the phone unusable until I could get my phone registered. Until then, I tried to downgrade it back to 2.2.1, and now that's failing with error code 1013.
Help?~
EDIT: Never jailbroke or did anything illegal with the phone IN MY LIFE, it's legitimate.

If you just registered it can take up to 24 hours to get the email. I got mine in about 3 hours. I would just wait, put the phone back to 3.0 and hang out till you get access to the dev site. Then go in and add in your UDID and it will unlock your phone and you should be good to go.

Your on your own now. You can't go back to 2.0 once you have installed 3.0 it is not possible. Sorry to sound so bleak but that is what i just spent 1 1/2 hours talking to apple about.

Yikes! I can't stand being without a phone for that long. Hopefully that solves the problem though. :laugh2:

Lovely. Well as long as I can add my UDID (hopefully sooner than later), everything `should` be good.. Right?

Yes you should be ok then. However 3.0 beta is not worth the money in my opinion. You will not be able to access Itunes or instant messaging. Your Iphone will have several bugs in it................and I just found out I wish I never would have traded 3.0 for 2.0. But Anyway..............goodluck.

It's okay, I plan on being a developer anyway, and besides; after the beta is over, there's always a more stable version which we can then upgrade to. :)

What are you talking about? I have been running it since day one, and itunes works just fine and instant messaging apps work as well. What issues are you having with them?

See life is good :) be sure that you set it up as a new phone and not restore from a backup. Makes things alot more stable.

That is great, I would have thought that Apple would have come up with a patch to fix the Youtube problem.

Yah youtube works great if you set the phone up as a new device and not a restore from 2.2 backup. All about a clean install this time around.

does that mean you lose contacts

No your contacts should be backed up in outlook on windows or in address book on the mac.

I don't know. I downloaded the update seperately. If you'd like, I can add your UDID code to the list I have (I can add 99 more devices) and you should have no problems with it from thereon.

NO it wont. If you did this with a developer you need to keep in contact with him or her. When the next build comes out they will need to give it to you or your phone will turn off. The beta expires each time a new build comes out.

I'm sure *someone* would keep updating the current version somewhere that's download-able to the public.
With that said, when you say "turn off", does it do this upon the next connection to iTunes, or just randomly while you're phone is on? I don't think it's the latter..

Just when you plug it in to itunes it will turn it off. So as long as you never do that you should be ok. But who knows apple could push a big red button some place and turn it off remotely if they wanted. If they can kill an app remotely im sure they could do this to.

I'm sure they wouldn't be that mean. An application isn't really needed for an emergency, but the functionality of the phone itself would be.

you would hope not, but just remember all these non developers are out there running around with it right now and they shouldnt have it cause of the NDA and the fact there handing out software like candy or getting it off a torent. So you know apple wouldnt have a problem pushing that button and saying tuff. Then all of them will flock to the apple store to replace the phone, and in turn apple will just start having the rep look up udid numbers and finding out what dev account they go on and taking further action. It could be a messy cycle if they wanted it to be.

You've gotten to error code 1013, so you're partway through Mocque's method of rolling back to 3.0:
on a Windows Computer
1) open itunes
2) get iphone in DFU mode
3) select restore iphone (using the original 2.2.1 firmware, not the custom one)
4) let iphone do the restart process until you get ERROR 1013
5) close itunes
6) open quickpwn. you will get a message saying to hold power and home for 15 seconds. do it exactly like that hold the power and home for 15 secs.
7) turn on iphone by holding power button for 2 secs
8) open itunes and BINGO iphone is recognize and activated

Again.
If you set up as a new iPhone, you should be able to access YouTube in 3.0. Mine accesses it fine.

my sister had this error code and i tried to help her for like 3 hours, turns out she wasn't putting it into DFU mode but rather it was in recovery mode. you HAVE to have it in DFU mode in order for it to work, i think that is where most people mess up.

I had the same and would only open from Quickpwn but the phone was not recognised. Apple replaced the phone today saying that the firmware was TU. I'm not going to mess with the new one (probably).
Thanks to Napoleon and Shutter in the Mod thread for their help

From my own experience, I agree. I think that not being in true DFU mode is what messes up a lot of people.

I understand, but I am sure the "Apple Genius" would have done this rather than give me a replacement if that was all it twas going to take. Maybe mine had a preexisting fault. Who knows.
