I downloaded an mp4 video (legally) that was about 65mb. I brought it into iTunes, which played it beautifully. I tried to put it onto my iPhone and it said my iPhone won't play it. Fine. So I "converted" it by going to the Advanced menu in iTunes and creating an iPhone version. iTunes changed the mp4 to m4v and the freaking size went from 65mb to 168mb!!!! How on EARTH is converting a video FOR THE IPHONE going to INCREASE the file size 2 1/2 times????

Anyone have any ideas about this?

I don't know, but I really wouldn't recommend using iTunes for video conversion. Prep the files using Handbrake on a Mac or Videora on a PC... They're easy to use and there are many tutorials available.

I've had nothing but trouble from videora. Frankly, for me, it sucks. Audio is always out of sync. Super is my goto program for conversion, but it also made the file bigger: 99mb.

Well it must have a DIVX layer to it that makes it about as compressed as it's gonna be. Moving to any other format that the iPhone can read will apparently just make it larger.

pfft... apparently the only thing I can use is iTunes for this video. iTunes says that the MP4 that Super created isn't compatible with the iPhone. This is ridiculous. I thought the iPhone was supposed to play mp4s.

handbrake is the way to go if you have a mac, it works great!
