It will when the 3.0 software comes out next month.........the iPhone is suppose to support A2DP at that time........

Yes & yes. Still on 3.0beta5 but it works, just not stereo at this time (I'm still working through that & I don't know if it's the iPhone or the headset yet re: stereo not working).

Music and calls both working with this. ThanksYes they do! The mute button works but in 3.0beta (at least) the track fwd/back etc use of the headset buttons don't work.

I'll update when I get the full 3.0 installed!

Paired the 855's this morning, calls work, stereo works and mute's for calls.
Volume works. I don't have the mute or track selection working, that would be the AVRCP Profile.

The iPhone has the 3.0 GM OS.

Sounds like a bad connection. 1: is the earpiece plugged firmly into the headset? 2: is there any visible damage, fraying, or other oddities in the cable?

I just got the Plantronics 855 in the mail today from Amazon (about $33 + free shipping). Expecting abysmal performance, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality and range of A2DP paired to my iPhone and MacBook. The signal compression is certainly audible, but not so much that it's distracting while walking or doing other activities. Unfortunately, I'm not sold on the lop-sided setup; especially since calling out is problematic (I've had complaints that I sounded far away, and words were getting truncated).

Controls work just like Chex posted. Instead of track forward/backward, the volume button continues to control volume (since the iPhone does not support volume changes itself while connected to a bluetooth device).

I bought the voyager 855 headset shortly after getting my 3gs. I've been getting a fair amount of skipping during songs (just enough to be quite annoying). The phone is sitting on my desk about a foot from me.

Anyone else having this type of problem? Any thoughts/suggestions?

I had the best connection (perfect audio even rooms away) when the headset connected while I was playing music (or sometimes if music was the first activity I attempted). Trying to answer a phone call, making a phone call, or non-music activity would destroy the A2DP connection. Trying to play music again would be impossible, it would even break up just if I let the screen go to sleep, unless I disconnected, pstaryed music, then reconnected again. Repairing might have helped, I can't remember now.

Point is, the A2DP connection stops working if you use the headset for something other than music. At least, that's my experience. Which… is why I'm returning them to Amazon. If I'm just going to use them as wireless headphones, I want to get wireless headphones that doesn't pretend to be a good headset too. :D
