It is, but lots of people could have missed it. I think hotmail is not used by many, but for those that do this is a good thing.

Yeah I tried it a couple weeks ago and it worked. Someone posted a thread a month or two ago claiming it worked but it only worked for people with really old hotmail accounts. Now it works for everyone.

I didn't think hotmail would work so I created a gmail which I like much better.

I'm sure a lot of people created another email but its too much of a hassle to change your email on every site to your new email and then tell all your contacts your new email. Hotmail also doesnt let you forward to another email...

Thanks, didn't know this. I too got gmail after getting an iphone but still get stuff on my hotmail, nice to know I can now view both without going into safari.

Thank you so much for this thread. I've been struggling with this, and having to use Hotmail Mobile through Safari. That was not a very good alternative. I have now setup Hotmail in the email app on the iPhone 3G using "other", and it is working nicely.

I noticed that when I deleted Hotmail emails from my iPhone, they disappeared from the inbox on the iPhone, but not from the Hotmail server. When I accessed the inbox on my computer, all the emails deleted from the iPhone mail app were still there.

If you go to settings-mail-hotmail account-advanced, you will see delete from server with a few options to choose from.

I've been trying to set up my Hotmail account on my Iphone (2G), but it gives me an error message for outgoing mail...I can receive email, but not send...could somebody please tell me the exact settings they're using for their Hotmail account on their Iphone, so I can check them against mine? TIA

Wow! How have i missed this thread??? This is great. I mainly use gmail or me.com now, but this is nice since hotmail was my first email account many years ago.

Hotmail is very nice with mBox. Highly recommended. This excellent compatiblitly is one of the reasons I bought the iPhone over the BB Bold. Love my Hotmail, love my iPhone.

Definately download mBox for Hotmail from the app store. You will be very happy with it. Incredibly nice Hotmail interface.

Its a free email client like yahoo or gmail.

Anyway, to get hotmail working just click new email > other. Just type in your email and password and the iphone will do the rest.

So far it works pretty well, but it doesn't seem to sync with the server as fast as gmail and I have them both on the same push/fetch settings. Maybe its me or the whole IMAP / POP thing.
