Over-rated? not hardly. While there may have been plenty of phones out there with the same type of capabilities, the iPhone is the only one that created a flawless integration of touch technology, making it very user friendly, and very slick looking.
I agree that making a new one every year might be a bit over the top, but look at how many people are already chomping at the bit for the 3gs. If you had a product that captivated the market and you kept upping the anty every year in order to lure in more customers and to get your current customers to spend more, wouldn't you follow the same route? If not, then you will never make it in the business world.
