For Windows get the Jaadu Remote Desktop Protocol. Its really good and the gestures all feel natural.

The program that runs on your computer allows you to skip all that port forwarding or anything in your router settings. You use the same profile for LAN access and 3g/edge access.

I've got Jaadu VNC and really like it. I haven't used it in a while but it is good for the occasions that necessitate it.

I think I am going to buy this app tonight. Those of you that use it, can you wake your Mac from sleep, input your Mac User name/password, and activate the camera and use it for monitoring the room? How fast is it on 3G?

Yes to all your questions, but I've only tested over wifi. I haven't cared enough to set up the proper protocols/network to access via 3G.

Ok I just set up Jaadu VNC with my Mac. It's working fine over WiFi. I haven't tried 3G yet.

I know you have to leave Jaadu VNC Connect running on your computer for it to work, but are you also supposed to have to leave Vine-Jaadu Server running as well? I have to leave both of them running or it doesn't work.

I think there's a way to do it w/o running Vine. I don't remember off the top of my head, but I can look it up if you can't find it.

You're getting audio from the home computer coming through on the iPhone? How?

There is a Jaadu Remote Desktop for Windows which allows you to stream audio and video from a windows pc. However, I'm not aware that you can do the same thing with Jaadu VNC on a Mac. :(
