I can't believe I haven't seen this yet and no one has posted it: TouchTXT from AIM.
You can access your contacts so you dont have to add them all to your AIM buddy list.

yes. Its identical to using AIM and adding a buddy called +1-555-555-5555 or whatever phone number they have

Nope, no MobileMe or AIM account to receive, you just need to have an SMS-capable phone. We work with almost all mobile carriers in the US and Canada.

eyy do the people your texting haveeee to have a aim???? or no and if they dont have to since they have there numbers can you rename them like a contact list on a phone?? replieeeeeeee

Nope, it's an actual AIM to SMS gateway. Once your friend gets the SMS message, it appears just like an text message session. Since we don't provide a fake phone number, you must initiate the AIM to SMS session from touchTXT. I'll check with the AIM team to see if we could offer that in the future :)

It would be nice if you could assign your phone a number so anyone can text to your AIM. Or maybe text to your aim email address? Or heres another one, have a local number set up for each area and have extensions for each user. Then each user can give out a number + extension and can get texts from anyone to AIM.
