From iPhone to iPhone 3G

So I just purchased a 3G and am waiting for it to come in the mail so meanwhile I thought I would ask probably a fairly simple question and it might have been answered before, if it has forgive me for reposting. Here goes. I was wondering if the backup that iTunes has for my 1st gen iPhone will work when I get the 3G and connect it? In other words when I connect the 3G to iTunes will all my settings, apps, pictures, and songs automatically be uploaded or do I have to set it up somehow? Thanks.

Providing you plug your new phone into Itunes on the same pc (mac) that you used for your old phone everything will sync over. If you want all your settings to remain the same chose restore from backup in itunes
