Problem with wallpapers pics

Hello,
I have few pics that I have taken with my digital camera that I transfer to my iphone to use as wallpaper. When I open the pic and set it as wallpaper, the picture is not very clear (fuzzy) as the original.

Any ideas on why this happens? or do I have to resize it in order to use it as wallpaper?

Resize to 320X480. This is the standard size iphone wallpaper.
