Will the Itouch ever have a service that you can have wifi on all the time?

it seems to me that this would be a great tool if you could access the internet all the time like the iphone

Hello All. I have recently found out thru my sources at AT&T that Apple is in talks with AT&T to allow all Apple iPod Touch users to access WiFi capabilities through their Cell Towers. Not sure how thats going to work, but it has been brought up by Apple Exec's and AT&T see's a money making venture in getting this idea off the ground. Of course that means they will charge usage fee's for that but as long as those fee's are not too expensive, I think a lot of Touch users will definitely pay.

whats the point in that? if youre going to be paying a monthly fee, why not just get the iphone?

whats the point? 4 corners on every dollar. Thats the point. Sure you can get the iPhone, why not capitalize on the Touches as well. They can charge $10-$20 a month for just their WiFi services and thats it. Think of all the extra money coming in from iPod Touch users???? Wouldn't you want to snag all of that as well? There is a lot of money to gain here and AT&T knows that. They don't even have to go thru Apple for this. And they probably won't.
I have cell service with Verizon. I am happy with their service. To me, Verizon is the best cell company out there, with AT&T a close 2nd.
I don't want an iPhone and I am sure there are others that feel the same way, or they can't get approved because of bad credit or they can't afford what AT&T asks for when it comes to using an iPhone.
I used an iPhone for 3 months and found I used the WiFi/Cell Signals more than I used the phone part of the iPhone.

Wifi's range is much less than cell signals. Maybe use the hotspots like Starbucks or McDonalds but Wifi from a cell tower?
