so i'm selling two V1 iphones for a buddy, listed both for 350 each on craigslist, and damn i have gotten tons of emails. one particularly stuck out to me. here is the contents of the email conversation.

initial email to me
Is this item still available for sale?

my reply
yes they are, one is currently sold pending payment but i don't play favorites, whoever pays me first gets them.

his reply to me
Thanks so much for your response, I will like to purchase this
Two Original iPhone Jailbroken and Unlocked

....hope is still available for sale? i am sending this item overseas to one of my client's son who has just travel and i will prefer the shipping via USPS and i will be paying you $450.00 including the shipping so i will also be paying you via PayPal fastest, secure and reliable mode of payment so do send me your PayPal account email address so that i can use it for the payment.

my reply to him
the price for 1 of the iphone's is 350, if you want both the price is 700. i am wondering why you would send me $450 instead of the amount I am asking for? would I ship it to you and then you ship it overseas or would you want me to ship it overseas?

his last email to me
Hey sorry i need both item and i want you to ship it overseas cos i want you to handle the shipiing for me and i will be adding $100 to your money do send me your PayPal account ID and i will paying you $900 plus the shipping so send me your PayPal account email address so that i can proceed wit the payment

This is the shipping address below:

Dele Abimbola
#2 Temidire Ososami
Ring Road,Ibadan
Oyo state
Nigeria
23402

Thanks.

so what gives with this guy. i am not doing business with him because this just seems shady as hell. but i'm wondering what his scam is? i give him my paypal and he tries to hack it, or he deposits funds and then i go to withdraw them and they are from an unsecured spot and i lose out because i have already shipped the iphones? any ideas?

The exact same thing happened to me. Some lady in Nigeria tried to scam me out of my iPhone. They also proposed the same I'll pay you way over what you want scam. I wanted to kill her. She thought she was sooo smart.

Anyways, I think who ever falls for this kind of scam is a ****ing dumbass.

Here's what they were planning to do. They were going to send you fake emails from PayPal with tons of spelling and grammatical errors saying that you needed to send them the tracking number for the items and then they would release the money to you.

Basically, trying to get you to send your stuff and then never seeing a dime or your stuff back again.

Then again, you never know. My brother sold his 2G to someone in Zimbabwe and it was a legit transaction.

On the other hand, I got scammed out of my 2G by someone in Indonesia -- entirely my fault and stupidity.

well if he sends me 900 bucks and i am able to transfer the funds to my bank account from paypal then hes got himself 2 iphones. i highly doubt that it will happen like that, but we will see.

I have this exat same issue right now. I have the same thread going by the name of paypal scams. I get the exact emails your are getting. All you have to do is ask for a physical address and they won't respond.
