I was wondering about the paypal scams that people are using. I have some items for sale and and a lot of people only want your paypal email. My question is if I give out my email address for my paypal account what can they do with it?

It's been awhile since I have used paypal but if I remember right the email is what you need in order to pay someone. I think that's all. The most they could do with it is attempt to figure out your password for your paypal account. Just make sure that is secure, you should be good.

That's what I was thinking. I just want to make sure. It's just a email but the scammers really want the info.

They can open something called a claim and claim that they paid for something they didn't receive. Scammers win claims most of the times.

Wouldn't paypal be able to look up in the payment history and determine whether or not a payment was really ever sent? Just seems like something easily proven false from the surface.

LOL. I have gotten a few of these claim reprts saying that they paid for something and I didn't ship the item. The emails that they send look really generic and always have a link to paypal. Never click on a paypal link always type it in to your browser. I'm pretty sure the real paypal can easily squash any of this he didn't ship the item crap.
