I am having problems with Cydia. It has nearly been a week since Cydia has worked properly for me. The app opens fine but when I try to refresh it will crash time after time.

I am beginning to get worried, I have downloaded a lot of content of Cydia and I dont really want to restore and then re-jailbrake

I am UK based and have had for iPhone 3g jailbroken for over 6 months now

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

PS. The bluetooth advertising on the home page, is it now available to download via Cydia?

I'll guess that is some repository in Cydia doing this crash thing!? Have you inserted some recently?

The last repo I added was to download yellowsn0w. The download was smooth and my phone works fine.

This has never happened to me before - having to wait nearly a week for Cydia to work properly

Perhaps Cydia is down at the moment? Yours working fine?

I'm not JB, but I have read lots about Cydia. Some Repo make it crash, sometimes they update the app - and it freeze or crash...etc.

But one week is too long!

I used to be JB on my old V1, but with the new 3G 2.2 there's too much lag. Do you have this lag on your JB?

For the Cydia crashes - read this (http://hackint0sh.org/forum/f146/57986.htm).

I dont get any lag! Everything works smoothly...

Looks like I am stuck with Installer until my Cydia works

You're one lucky guy! No lag at all - how fast do your Mail, Maps and Safari apps open?

Ive got a hotmail account so I dont use the "mail" app to check out my emails.

Everything opens up really quick..perhaps my iPhone is one of lucky selected few

I am sure that the last repo I added was to download yellowsn0w

Is it possible to remove a source without opening Cydia? At the moment 1 out of 344245345345 attempts will Cydia actually fully load for me

I am dreading the idea of having to restore!

Congrats to your new iPhone, and welcome here on EIC!

Read this post (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone-modifications/what-jailbreaking-is-and-how-to-do-it-27443.html) about jailbreaking etc.

Here are some things to try:

• If you have SBsettings installed, open it (slide the menubar) and tap the "More" icon. From there, tap the "Extras" bar. Here, tap "Fix User Dir Permissions".

• If that does not work, SSH into your iPhone as root - password is alpine. Once you're in, type the following:
chmod -R 755 /Applications/Cydia.app
then type this:
reboot
This will reboot your iPhone after repairing Cydia's permissions.

• If neither of those work, replace your Cydia.app (located in /Applications) with this one (http://www.sendspace.com/file/i1qi5m). (You need to unzip the downloaded file first, of course.)

Do I need to reboot my iPhone now?

I have re-booted my iPhone and still Cydia is crashing. I will have to try the other two methods suggested by Linc later tonight after work

is it crashing when you try and refresh the changes tab? If so this is what I do. Hit the refresh tab let it download a few releases and when it starts downloading the packages hit the cancel button. Do this a few times until you have all of the changes downloaded and it no longer crashes. Mine crashes if I don't open it for a week or two then I have to to through the steps mentioned above.

exactly the same thing was happening to me a few days ago.. and it was because i added to many sources so i had to go back and delete some have you added any sources that are in the front page of cydia were it says more packages ? thats what may be causing it to crash...

I have the same problem. Did Cydia start working for you again? or did you have to re-install?

It's just the current version - nothing any of us can do about it. Saurik added some strange new data retrieval system that's causing a ton of crashing. We'll just have to wait for the next update.
