I made a concoction once... thought I blogged it somewhere but I guess not. I called it a turbadog... tukey, bacon, hotdog.

Start with a hotdog. Wrap it in several slices of turkey. Wrap that head-to-toe with bacon and fry it up crisp. Flatten several pieces of white bread into a wrap for the turbadog. Slather in mayonnaise and fry up to a golden brown.

It was fexcellent. Wish I could find the picture...

I posted this over on iRovr but this is the bacon thread after all. I went to the Florida State Fair last night and tonight and heard about bacon dipped in chocolate. I went in search of it tonight and finally found it 2 hours later. It was delicious. I also had fried PB&J and fried Oreos.

if you like fried PBJ, you should try PBJ French toast.

How do you go about making this PBJ French Toast?

Naturally, i copped some of the basic elements from Good Eats.

make your PBJ as you prefer... although slightly thicker and drier (left out overnight works best for maximum soakability) bread would help.

Then make a french toast egg mix in a flat pan or plate with edges: Eggs, an ounce or so of cream per Egg... and something to sweeten/flavor it a bit (honey, vanilla, cinammon, etc.). Beat it all together. Then set your pbj in for a minute, then flip and let set for another minute.

Fry on a skillet with butter. I like to finish it off in an oven at about 350 for a few minutes to help the outside crisp-up a bit, and cook the middle a bit more.

Garnish with powdered sugar, cinnamon, honey... whatever.

Works amazingly well with bananas and peanut butter too. And Gnutella (<-heaven).

jalapeno cheese summer sausage, jerky, made chicken fried steak out of backstraps, and the tenderloins wrapped in bacon made an excellent steak (they were actually wrapped in bacon from the boar next to the deer in the pic)

I actually found something where adding bacon didn't make it better. There's a BBQ place near us that has a great hickory grilled burger but surprisingly, when your order it with bacon on it, it sucks. I don't know if it's something about the hickory or what, but I'll never get it that way again.

I don't know how you like your bacon, but I like it just slightly chewy with a little crunch. 10 seconds per slice of the oscar meyer stuff gets you there perfectly. It's salty and smoky and what else do you need?

I agree... the texture of the fat gets all waxy and weird if you overcrisp your bacon. I like it to the point that if you bend it past 45 degrees it will snap. That way you get that perfect crispy/chewy tooth feel.

That bacon in my last pic was overdone. I often forget that bacon continues to cook for a while after pulling it from heat.

Mainly liver and suet, a semi-solid gooey mixture in a casing that is removed before cooking it to a crispy encased cake. MMM on both counts. Funny, I absolutely HATE liver but love scrapple and goo, cooked well.
