Iphone 3g with t-mobile internet not working

Alright guys well I just got a new 3g Iphone, I previously had a blackberry with the full internet package also known as EDGE. Well I unlocked the iphone and downloaded the big boss tool pack that lets you toggle on and off the 3g, edge, blue tooth, etc. Now for some reason I still can't get my EDGE internet to work. When I open safari I get the message "Could Not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service". This is strange though since it lets me turn on EDGE and then even displays an E in the top left corner. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do so any help is appreciated.

I don't really think I need the t-zones thing. I dont even use t-zones. I have the internet package called edge for tmobile, I think they are different. I have also heard people say you are not able to use the internet on tmobile 3g's. Anyone else care to way in? Also if I called and asked t-mobile what do you think they would say, would it be bad idea?

apg, this same thing happened to me this morning where yesterday it worked fine. Like you I do not use t-zones, instead I have the full data plan. After searching other forums I did the following:

- Go into Settings-General-Network-Cellular Data Network
- In the APN field, put in "epc.tmobile.com" (without the quotes, and no username/password is necessary)

This fixed it for me. Give it a shot.

T-Mobile's 3G network runs on a different frequency (1700MHz) than AT&T's (and just about every other carrier in the world) 3G network. The iPhone's cellular radio does not work on this frequency, so there's no way to connect to T-Mobile's 3G network with an iPhone 3G without modifying the hardware. EDGE will work just fine, though.
