Can't restore...need help!!!

I have a j'b iphone, 1st generation, 2.2 with qwkpwn. I have been trying to restore to stock on my laptop, and it times out. I get a message that says that my network is not set up correctly. I have never ha dto set up my network before, so I'm lost. My hard drive recently crashed and I had our help desk install a new one, but again, I've never had to set up my hard drive. My iphone j'bs fine at work and I'm sure I can restore at work, but why can't I do this at home? Please help!! :(

it sounds like iTunes needs to download the software package to install on your iphone.

are you connected to the internet?

Yes sir. It starts downloading and has about 275 mb of download, but it times out at about 40 mb. How do I download that the itunes needs for the iphone? Where do I find it?

There is a link to download it through your web browser, but I can't paste it here as I'm on my phone. Maybe someone else can help us out there.

Then in iTunes, you would hold shift (or option on mac) while clicking on restore. Then in the window that pops-up find the downloaded file, and iTunes should then restore your phone.

The restore works now, thank God. I now have two problems. 1. When I click on the pineapple to jb on my laptop, I get an error message with the file and it will not load. I try it at work on my desktop and it is fine. Anyone have a reason why? 2. I get connected on wifi at work, but when I go home, I am not connected. I type in what I think is the password and its a no go. I just recently had my hard drive on my laptop replaced (the other one crashed) and it hasn't work since with my iPhone. Everything else works great on my iPhone and laptop, just not the jb and wifi. Could someone please help?

is your laptop a mac with 10.5.6? If so, this is a known OS bug.

well, the first thing that comes to mind is that you may have the wrong password for your wireless network. who set up your network?

No, my laptop is Windows with Windows XP loaded.

I think I have the wrong password, but I don't remember the password or anything. A guy from work set it up, but that was almost two years ago.

If you don't remember your wifi password, try plugging your laptop into the modem/router. At some point you'll have to reset your wifi network, but for now this will get you internet access.
