Anyone know how to change the settings so that when I get a text message while the phone is locked it does not show up on the screen?

You have to go into settings and set a passcode lock. This way, any text message will appear as "senders name", "text message". Also, if you dont feel like typing your code everytime you slide to unlock, just set the time on the passcode to every four hours.

I have a passcode lock and the text messges still show up....

Is there a way to totally disable this?

Disable what? The text notification or the message? If you have a passcode then it should already hide the message and just say who it is from. I don't think there is a way to completely hide the notification tho unless you hit the lock button after receiving the message.

When you set your passcode lock in settings, did you change "Show SMS Preview" to 'off'?

yes I did, however it still shows from "John Doe" and some text...

I don't want any notification of received text messages...

From what I gather, unless I jailbreak the phone (not an option), I can't do this like I can on my win mobile phone...

even locked, it makes the screen come alive and shows from: someone and then a short message...

In that case.. tell your girlfriend to email you, so your wife wont see.

Oh, snap!

I believe with the 3.0 update you will be able to turn the SMS previews off. But, of course, this won't be until June-ish.
