That's just guitar-driven blues rock. It's not my particular bag usually, but there are lots of good acts that sound like this.

I recently saw a relatively unknown group called Backdoor Slam at a concert this summer. That guy is PHENOMENAL on his guitar, and singing too. You'd definitely dig it if you like this.

Thanks a lot Dave, do you think they have any videos on youtube?

I'm sure OJ could point you to a ton more acts like this... but i would start at a good compilation like Eric Clapton's Crossroads DVD... TONS of blues guitar there.

It's not really my thing either, but Gov't Mule and Derek Trucks are (semi) blues rock acts i really enjoy.

For a more jazz-oriented approach Oz Noy is amazing... as is Scott Henderson.

I swear the dude channel Jimi when he solos. Speaking of which, Jimi Hendrix wouldn't be bad to check, either :tounge:

Don't worry, OJ will be around soon enough to give you the real list.

Been listening to these guys for a while, awesome stuff. Actually saw a video run before a movie we went to see. Went right home and bought the album off iTunes.:2cool:

Obviously, that's Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double trouble. The blues is your genre. If you like it ripping like that then...

Personally, I would research the following:

Buddy Guy
Son Seals
Freddie King
Albert King
Albert Collins
These guys taught Stevie Ray EVERYTHING he knew..
These guys are easy enough to locate and I highly recommend you hunting these guys down. Tons of other artists play the same great music from BB King, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolfe, Otis Rush, Robert Cray, and many others.

Be forewarned about Eric Clapton. He never wrote a blues song himself. He can play them ok and can sing them fine but he NEVER wrote a blues song. Which is harder than you may think. Jimi wrote them. And Stevie did, too. These are true blues men. Clapton was able to bring recognition to these artists that were starving at the time that they were getting ripped off. But that's where it stops. Stay away from Clapton unless you want the psychedelic music in particular. And then, I would limit Clapton to his work with the Yard birds, The Cream, Blind Faith and Derek and the Domonoes...
I own all this music and hundreds of gigs more..PM me if you want to trade out or discuss the Blues further..
