Being that it is still a GSM device.. make sure to turn your phone off then back on at least once a day. This will put you at the top of the nearest tower. GSM works like a stacking method..

I wish i knew more.. Soory, no links.. Maybe google? i only know what my IT buddies share with me. The longer your device is on, without power cycling, you can suffer from poor reception and dropped calls. power cycling simply registers your sim onto the closest tower.

You should also try resetting Network settings, that solves a lot of network problems. Including call quality? Maybe.

There also might be network degradation in your area... if the suggestions above don't seem to help, try contacting your provider to see if something's going on with the network in your area. They will need specific information, such as addresses/cross streets, examples of dropped calls if any, description of what you are experiencing, and the frequency in which it occurs. Sometimes they can file a ticket and if its a problem with the network, your phone call can end up having an RF Engineer sent out to fix it very soon.
