Help Jailbreaking a 2G on 2.2

Hi Guys I need some help jailbreaking my 2G phone on 2.2, I'm on a Mac running 10.5.6.
I have run the automator and can get the phone in DFU mode but iTunes in not recognizing the phone and gives me the "Ipod something something Error 2001".

I have used Pwnage to create a custom IPSW, can I just do a Option/Restore and use the custom file and load it like that or does iTunes have to recognize it as an iphone in recovery mode?

Not sure whatelse to try.......any help is appreciated.

i do not have experience jailbreaking with 10.5.6 or any of the issues that could occur with that (even if you have it modified to work with DFU mode) but if you have another computer to possibly jailbreak on i would recommend giving that a shot.

The PC has itunes, will that work if I jailbreak it on a PC and then sync back my contacts/mail/etc on my mac?

Use Mac and QuickPwn. The difference is that it basically does it for you and you don't have to go and Restore with the new firmware. This way, you don't have to Restore at all.

yes, you will have to do a couple steps. first download quickpwn from here onto your pc:

also, if you haven't updated your iphone 2g using this computer you will need to download the 2g 2.2 firmware to your computer as well, you can get that here:

once you have them downloaded, open quickpwn, plug your iphone in, and follow the instructions. all should work no problem. if you have any issues pm me and i'd be happy to help in any way possible.
