I've already jailbreaked my phone and downloaded the openSSH from Cydia. When I tried using winSCP to connect to my iphone, it stats that connection timed out. My firewall has been disabled. Can anyone shed some light on how I could connect to my iphone?

Are both OpenSSH and Wifi on? If not, they need to be.

Are you sure SSH is turned on, on the iPhone? Are you using SBSettings or a similar app to toggle it on and off? (if not, it is a good idea to do that)

They are all turned on. I use this application called SBSettings to toggle them on.

And iPhone definitely on same WiFi network as the computer running WinSCP?

Yes. It's on the same network.

And the iPhone can get to the web, looks like it has a solid WiFi connection?

Yup. I can access the web using wifi.

Jeez - you've probably already tried this - but reboot both iPhone and the PC running WinSCP - see if you still get same error ...

Lol. I did try that before. I tried it now and it's still the same thing. I wonder if I miss out anything?

Hmmm, couple more things to check:
Make sure you are entering the iPhone's *current* IP address in WinSCP - it will change if it's using DHCP - maybe this entry is old in WinSCP
Make sure that the File Protocol field is set to SCP

Yep. I did everything. Does my iphone need to have BSD Subsystem?

Yeah - that should have been a requirement to install OpenSSH.

D: Oh my. Where can I get BSD subsystem? I can't find it on Cydia or installer.

Maybe it was a package option when you ran Pwnage or similar jailbreak solution?
In any case, sounds like maybe an uninstall / reinstall of OpenSSH might be worth a go ...

I used QuickPwn for my phone's jailbreaking. I'll give the openSSH reinstallation a try

Jeez - I'd be back to suspecting the PC now. You said firewall is off, but how about any Norton (or similar) sort of AV security suite type ****e? Anything like that running? If so, look for a place to allow WinSCP connections ...

No dude, just keep trying. It took me about 12 tries before I could access my iphone. Good luck.

Make sure you set your auto lock to never, if the phone locks it will time out the connection.
