I have made this poll to getting a overview of how many EIC users having their iPhone jailbroken or not - and why.

I love my jailbroken phone. I can get preferences on the fly, run apps in the background, put notifications in my menu bar and homescreen, and customize sounds. It really completes the phone with features Apple leaves out.

I was JB during the 1.1.4 days because I wanted apps and themes. When 2.0 came out I was tempted to restore and after looking through the appstore, I went back to stock when 2.1 came out. I havent tried to JB since. All I'm really missing out on is themes. I've also had WAY less crashes since I went stock.

never had a single issue with my 3g jailbroken 16gb 2.2 firmware iphone. in fact i have jailbroken my sister's iphone, as well as many friends, and even a couple perfect strangers. no issues at all really. jailbreak really completes the iphone imo.

one of the main reasons i jailbroke was for cycorder, i really needed that on a phone. never at all cared for themes, but i tried a few and i hated them. the only reason i use winterboard if for the wallpaper which is kinda nice.
of course since i jailbroke theres been tons of other cool stuff ive found. definitely worth it. dont think i can ever go back to stock

I'm happy with jailbroken iPhone, but I would not recomend the installer icon I tkink that causes most of the lag with jailbreaking IMO

I'm new to the iPhone and came from the Windows Mobile environment. I was a bit disappointed with the iPhone customization until I jailbroke it, now I love it. There is a slight amount of lag, but nothing compared to WM phones, even the Fuze (which I just sold off).
My camera app only takes a few seconds to open.

Would not have it any other way: Jailbroken and loving it!!
I had lag but restored and re-jailbroke and now lag is much, much less. It makes my iphone like no other.

Not sure exactly what iphone owners you were trying target, but you're likely to get quite an unbalanced response with the poll being in the modifications forum.

I need another category: Was jailbroken for a long time <2.0, but gave up >2.0 because of the lag, but will gladly do it again if they ever nail the lag.
I think a lot of people are in my category.

I jailbroke using v2.0 and experienced lag.
When 2.1 was released I jailbroke and the lag was less noticeable.
Now, with the jailbroken v2.2, there is no noticeable lag. I love it. I could never go back to a stock iPhone.
If you haven't jailbroken, you should (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone-modifications/iphone-jailbreak-the-reveal-with-screenshots-38610.html)!

Yeah me either, but I think it's just a ymmv type of thing. Dave jailbroke using the same method I did, but he experienced lag.

And I've heard the same thing from others. I just don't really feel like experimenting at this point and time. I'm a "total control" kind of guy, but I'm happy with my iPhone being stock 99.9% of the time these days.

I'm targeting every iPhone user, and I think non-jailbroken users are also looking in/using this "Modification" sub forum. I know that I can't get the big picture with this poll, but it will tell us some balance data.

I also like to control things - including my iPhone. I don't like the "50/50" chance of getting heavy lag or not. I'll wait for at better jailbreak solution.
For now I like the smoothness off all my apps on the stock, and the 2.2.1 is on it's way..

I didn't learn much from this poll, but I guess I need to learn more about "Jailbrake"? Obviously I am stock, and my only regret on iPhone is I can't open email attachments that are .wmv files, will jailbrake help there?

With more votes - you'll get a clear picture...I guess ;)

Just JB'd again this weekend. I was running stock for a month or so just to see the difference. Not enough cons to outweigh the pros IMO. I have had my phone JB'd (both v1 & 3g) most of the time I've had them.

It takes what?...15 minutes to jailbreak? Try it and if you don't like it, revert back to the original, stock iPhone. What do you have to lose, besides a little bit of time?

I think QuickPwn took about 5 minutes or so, and the rest of the process took about 10 minutes - in my case!
I was Jailbroken on my V1 will I updated to 2.1 and then I went back to stock because the phone started acting "funny". I waited a week after 2.2 came out and then updated and stayed stock. It died a month later. Don't know if it was a hardware or JB thing, All I know is that my $600 phone took a crap 3 month outside the warranty. Since I needed a phone, I updated to the 3G and I am not going to fool around with it anymore.
If Apple comes out with a way to theme the phone, great. Till then, there is nothing else out there that I need. Especially if it has to circumvent the OS policies in order to install it.

Funny Hawk! - the same thing happen to my V1 with 2.0! ;) I have tried the JB thing today on my 3G, and after 1 hour of playing, I went back to stock.
