I am looking to buy some new speakers for my room that are compatible with the iPhone 3G. I like bass so i would like them to have good bass or a good sub. I don't really care if they are computer speakers or an alarm clock radio. I am looking to hopefully spend around $100-$150

my friend has these http://www.klipsch.com/products/deta...media-2-1.aspx (http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-2-1.aspx) they sound great im just looking to see what else is our there or if these are the best for the price.

thanks for any help

Certainly you can use computer speakers... but if you do they will use the headphone out signal... which means that you will need to find the optimum level output of the iPhone and set it to that level every time you connect to the speakers.

By contrast, if you get something that has a dock interface it very likely uses the "line level" output... which is a superior way of sending audio signals between devices.

In my bedroom, I use my existing Bose Wave radio which does not have a dock. Having to fuss with the iPhones audio output level does bug me. The sound is good... better than most table-top systems.

For our beach condo, I use a Bose Soundock II which does have an integrated dock... This is very nice... but they are out of your price range at $300.

For my two daughters, I just purchased them each an iHome IP99BX iPhone compatible docking alarm clock. http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?product_id=10246&dept_id=1006 The price is listed at $129... but if you view the less expensive model IP9BR here http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?product_id=10308&dept_id=1006 you will see a offer to uprade to the IP99BX for free saving you $30. Hence, you can buy them for $99 including free shipping and a free set of earbuds.

My girls have not received their speakers yet...so I cannot comment on the quality. They are scheduled to arrive on Monday.

I would recommend some studio monitors like M-audio BX5A deluxe or BX8A deluxe. If you like more bass go for the bx8a which has a 8" woofer while the bx5a has a 5" woofer. I have both of them and i like them very much.

I've been wanting to buy the iDesign speaker system from Brookstone. Looks great but, I haven't read any user reviews on it. Anyone use the iDesign system?
