Minor Outlook to iPhone sync problem - weekend events and birthdays/recurring events

My new iPhone pulled over contacts and the calendar from Microsoft Outlook before I even knew what was going on. That's great, but I have a couple of minor issues. When I sync from Outlook to iPhone, weekend events do not show up on the iPhone. Also, things like recurring events (birthdays) do not sync. It's not the end of the world, but I have to manually input some events directly into the iPhone.

I searched the forum and could not find this exact issue, but I apologize if it is already out there.
