I restored back to stock (using a back up from before I jailbroke) and I noticed that the numeric battery was still active and my contacts app (which I removed with SBSettings) was still removed. Anyone know why or what I could do to get it back to complete stock?

Sorry if this has been discussed, I used search and could not find relevant topics. Maybe I just searched for the wrong things.

When you restore, do not restore using a prior backup; completely restore to a new iPhone.

Yeah, I would do a DFU restore as a new device.

Thanks for the quick responses Eragon and Dave. I reset all settings on the phone and it seemed to do the trick. I probably should of done that before I asked.

Do you think I should still restore as a new phone especially if a new fw update comes out and it somehow bricks my phone?

I always restore as new, but that's just me. At the very least, I still think you should restore as new when going from jailbreak to stock, so in your case yeah, I would do it again.

What a lot of people do nowadays is backup their stock iPhone via a sync with iTunes, then save a copy of that backup file somewhere before they jailbreak. Then when it's time to go back to stock, you can safely restore from that pre-jailbreak backup.

What happens when you restore as a new phone? Does it just completely wipe everything (contacts, pictures, etc.)? You don't have to reactivate or anything like that, do you?

Hi! I am still a newbie so I am learning on this forum. How to I do a DFU restore? Also I backed up my iphone last night and I would like to save the back up file prior to jailbreak it, where do I find the back up file? If you restore an iphone using the DFU mode will this method delete all the jailbreak traces? Thanks
