I am at 2.1 and want to upgrade to 2.2 and unlock with Yellowsnow. I am on Dialup in east Africa and couldnt connect to ituness long enough to DL the 2.2 update. So I got a 2.2ipsw file off a Bit torrent.
So my question is can I use the downloaded 2.2 restore file to upgrade my iPhone in iTunes? Is this safe? Will this change anything that wont let me jailbreak, and unlock?
