Mac with external monitor

Does anyone have the macbook pro hooked up to 24 inch monitor? The reason i am asking is because i have my macbook pro hooked up to a 24" dell 2407wfp-hc and it has been lagging alot. I am wondering if it is a computer problem or a monitor problem, it only does it when i am playing WoW.

you may be running out of video memory. i believe in OSX, with dual monitors, the video memory is shared between both monitors. Even though WOW only displays on one monitor at a time, it still hay only have half of your vram to work with. what video card do you have? have you tried turning down the settings for objects in the distance?

I had my MBP playing WOW on a 22" screen on the highest settings without any issues... i have the Nvidia 8600 with 512MB vram.

that would be my best guess... i would try limiting the generation of objects in the distance to as short as possible first... then try lowering some other sliders in the graphics options in WOW.

I have my MBP hooked up to a 25" LCD that has 2ms response time and I see no lagging in WOW or anything else I do, I have most of the settings all the way up in WOW as well. I do have the new MBP with the 512mb nvidia card set at performance. I have also dual boxxed one on my 25" and one on my MBP display and neither lagged, at this I had my settings down a bit in wow.

ok since this is already been discovered. I have an 08 2.4 unibody macbook and im looking into getting a 24 inch external display. I to play WoW and i want a monitor that is going to be crystal clear. What is a good display i can get for this machine?

I had my macbook pro hooked up to a 22" (or more, not sure, too lazy to check) Samsung LCD screen. I used the small white converter that came with the laptop so I can connect the VGA cable to my mbp. It works just fine on both Macintosh and Windows (Boot Camp). All you need is a usb mouse, usb keyboard, and external speakers and you won't even need to have the notebook's lid open.

@kenneth, try getting a Sony or a Samsung, I am sure those are the best LCD screens (besides Apple's great screen that is really expensive) you can get for a bit cheap. Samsung is definitely cheaper.
