How to mute sound?

I noticed the no ring button above the volume but if you play a song or movie it still plays the sound. Is there a way I can hush the phone when watching youtube or something?

Turn the volume all the way down? Or do you need a one-button solution.

Volumn on the side of the phone or in the application?

Volumn on the side of the phone or in the application?

The buttons on the side will control the volume of whatever application you're in, so it shouldn't make a difference I do believe.
