Per TechCrunch ... Slacker Radio iPhone app may appear as soon as tomorrow >> http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2009/01/...n-as-tomorrow/ (http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2009/01/08/slacker-for-iphone-coming-as-soon-as-tomorrow/)
Interested to see how much they will charge as Slacker does have a stand alone "mobi" unit.
PS - Slacker Radio is similar to Pandora or Last.FM ... music reommendations based on your current "likes"

Is there anything that really sets it apart from Pandora or Last.FM?

Of the 3 (Pandora, Last.FM and Slacker), Slacker is the newest to the market.
Here is what I could find:
Unlike the other services, Slacker does offer you the chance to have radio stations of ONLY the artists you tell it to play, at no additional cost.
users gain far more control over their web-based radio stations, more so than with Pandora (http://mashable.com/2006/06/23/pandoras-new-feature-backstage/)or Last.fm (http://mashable.com/2006/10/31/lastfm-to-announce-free-mp3s-events-and-more/).
Here is a good review article you can check out:

I am pretty excited to hear this. I use slacker at work all day. As was mentioned, you can create a station of only the artists you want, and then also add a setting that will play more or less of similar music if you want...you can also skip a limited number of songs if you are not paying anything (I believe it is 6 skips an hour). Definitely my choice for internet radio.

Thanks. Now the question is can you log into your existing slacker account and load the station you already have created!?

Yes you can
I've been using Slacker on my BB for a lil while now and it pwns Pandora by a long shot. One way being, that you can actually cache a song to your phone (on a BB anyway, not sure about iPhone) and listen to it without a connection :laugh2:

Early reviews say it performs fantastic over Edge and 3G ... which is the key for my drive time listening ... keeping my fingers crossed ... Slacker rocks!

Although the login is great for existing users (I wish Animoto had one) it might put off some new users.

I'm using the app and I'm not sure how to play songs exclusively from one artist. I don't see a setting to choose that. Or, do I have to go to the website first?

I still need to dive into the iPhone app, but yes, my understanding is that you should have an online account and then access it via the app.
Also, check out the premium service at $4/month ... I don't subscribe, but am giving it very serious consideration - the reviews I've read say this premium service is much better than XM, plus not KRAPPY dj's ... just something to consider

Had a chance to spend a little time with the app and I'm really liking it. The fact that I can log in, and play my already custom radio station that I listen to all day on the work PC is great. I do love getting into new music, but sometimes you just want to put on some tracks that you don't already have on itunes, and feel good about not having to skip every other song!
