I agree that it would have been awesome but I just don't see us getting those things (legitimately) from Apple anytime soon unfortunately.

The firmware releases are varied at when they are released so there really is no telling when we might get one.

And of course, let's not forget the competition. If Apple is firmly committed to the iPhone platform (sure it's a short term money maker), they will try to anticipate what other manufacturers are doing, and market products that maintain market share. We saw Motorola get complacent with the Razor. Lack of development and keeping with technology is a death sentence in this industry.

That is true. The xperia looks pretty interesting. Wouldnt mind switching over from some simple stuff and other advanced stuff. Im sure apple is working on something new but so i everyone else!

I agree there is just no telling the timeframe for new firmware or for some long-awaited features. But ... I'm pretty sure Apple is on record as saying copy&paste is in the queue for features to add, it just did not have a super-high priority when they last spoke about it (which is of course absurd to most of us) - and I feel pretty sure video will get here sometime too ...

Oh come on. Did you really expect a firmware update today? That wasn't even rumored in the slightest, neither were any of the features that you mentioned. The only thing that's new about the iPhone is that iTunes now works over EDGE, GRPS, and 3G.

They did fix the battery. Since the last update i can go two full days with push on, email on, 3G on and location services as well as wifi all on 24/7.

I agree with Sav. I dont even get a full day sometimes and I don't even have 3G on as I don't live in a 3G area.

I don't really care so much about video (I have cycorder) and quite honestly, if I'm going to take videos of something I care about, its gonna be with an actual camera. And copy and paste means nothing to me, personally.

I do want push services, which were promised to us in September. That's my bug.

There's no need to. 1 day of usage with 3G on, push on, LS on, and constant usage is fine for me.

I agree since the last update my battery life has been great. I am almost always in a 3G area, push calendar and contacts but fetch email every 15 minutes. 2 days plus on my battery, no problem.
Cut and Paste is a big deal to me, I would mainly use it only for the calendar as I need to enter a lot of repetitious info.

I was wondering how they would make future "something in the air" announcements if they won't be at Macworld anymore. It will just be weird. I just can't see the drama platform announcing something in a news conference, but I guess Apple could pull it off. While watching todays Keynote I kept thinking of what/where they will do to announce new stuff.

I for one am not holding my breath. It is getting real old waiting for Apple to throw us a bone. There are a lot of things I would like to see Apple do with the iPhone but from what they have released in the past I just don't see anything worth while happening. At this point, I would just like to see a wide keyboard for SMS and email.
