View Full Version : Finally, MMS!!

I'm so glad we finally have an application for MMS...and it's free.
Basically, (and this is going by what happens for UK / O2 customers) when you recieve a MM message, you recieve a pin from O2. You then go to their web site and enter your phone number and pin (to basically 'create' your account) and you can see the picture. Well, what this app does, is once you get that pin, you click the application, enter your number and pin and from then on, any photos you recieve will go straight into the app so you don't have to go online. What's even better, is that you are now able to send photos BACK! You buy 'credits' from the app maker. To buy 10 credits (10 photos to be able to send) will cost £3.79 or if you're American $5.56. Or you can buy 75 credits for £25 or $36.
It may be a little expensive but at least we can now say we have MMS on the iPhone. Hats off to the app developer, this is fantastic news, right?

Yes, O2 still hasn't jumped ship to allow inclusive MMS messages and I doubt they will. So until I really need to, I won't be buying any credits just yet, but it's a start!

AT&T offers MMS (receive only) on the iphone. Gives us a website to go to and a password.
It's the actual receive ON THE PHONE and SEND that we want so badly.
MacWorld come and gone - and no sign of it coming... :(

You clearly didn't read my thread properly. I stated that you now CAN!
EDIT: There, I bolded (for the morons who skip almost everything I wrote) the important bit.

This is good news and it's obvious people aren't reading carefully enough. Based on some of the relentless demands for MMS around here, you would think people would be willing to pay $10/message for such a precious gift.
I'm not personally excited, but come on folks! It's MMS!

Well this is for all the people that said 'Eeeehhhh, the iPhone doesn't have MMS, the most basic of features'. Well now it does, so shut up lol. The iPhone is nearing the 100% perfection mark and that was a big step towards it.

What is "this app?" I think you failed to tell us what app you're talking about.

Hence why I began my thread with 'I'm so glad we finally have an application for MMS...and it's free'. Just search for 'MMS'.

Err, yes, is the answer to that question. That and copy and paste was all everyone was going on about to make the iPhone amazing.

So you're denieing people have wanted MMS for a long time?
No. I am telling you that your "solution" isn't MMS.
MMS is:
Take pic with your phone.
Send it to a friend.
Done.
Cloverfield

Yes, you can still do this but there is 1 step inbetween those 2.
Take pic with phone.
Open MMS application.
Send it to a friend.

= 1 - 2 clicks... gooootcha.
Sorry... that's not even close to what anyone has been asking for.

I believe all that pin stuff is a one-time thng. After that it's a straight-ahead MMS app.
But what is it called?? Why do we have to search for it?
Cloverfield

Correct. You enter the pin in once and that is your account created. The app, funnily enough, is called 'MMS Photo Messaging'. Download it now and ignore the clot above.

This (http://iphonemms.net/native-application.html) is probably the app you're talking about. Not in the U.S. store. Seems to be especially made for O2. Consider yourself lucky. :laugh2:

I had actually restored my iPhone today, and when I read about all the people being able to use MMS I jailbroke again, installed Swirly and bam all of the sudden MMS all over the place! Maybe we actually are going to see MMS now

actually MMS is not that widely used, but Copy & Paste looks more useful, and Flash, Camera, all pay as ya use, perfect apple! or pineapple? :-)

Ahh, only for the UK. That's a shame but I don't think it will be long till it's made for everyone else.

I know. Ridiculous. Also, the app button is the exact same as the SMS button, but red and MMS not SMS so it looks like it was there from the beginning :D

I think that MMS app just slipped through the cracks & got in the UK Appstore temporarily just like iBoobs. We'll see how long it stays in the Appstore.

I mean think about it. Why would Apple or the carrier allow an 3rd party app get customer money when theycould easily enable it & have the customer pay for an MMS plan that the carrier can make profit from instead of a 3rd party.

Because they are stupid. This was established when they left the feature out in the first place.

Well this service only works with UK iphones as stated on their website: http://iphonemms.net/ and its not even available in the US appstore. Either way, I'm not paying for MMS; I wasn't one of the people complaining because I rarely used it with my previous phones.

Here is a quote from the description which the developer has just added in.
In the future we hope to be able to bring down the cost of sending messages and make the process of paying for them easier or even have them deducted from your inclusive allowance.
That would be brilliant if the picture message could take up a few texts rather than money :D
