1. What is the myBlog App?

The myBlog App is a web application available in the iPhone Social area of EverythingiCafe that allows members to blog using a WYSWYG interface. Approved blog entries from members will appear in on the homepage of EverythingiCafe.

2. How do I add the myBlog App?

You must be a member of the forums and then you'll also have complete access to iPhone Social @everythingicafe. Visit iPhone Social @everythingiCafe and select the Applications > Browse tab.

Select the Plus sign to the right of the MyBlog Application.

3. I don't see a blog option in iPhone Social? How do I blog?

If you have added the myBlog App in step 2, then visit the homepage. In the right hand column, you'll see a USER MENU. Click on myBlog and you'll have access to the myBlog Dashboard. Here you can see your existing blog entries or create a new entry. You can also see how many people have viewed your blog entry.

4. I just finished an entry, but it's not showing up on the site?

All entries are reviewed by the staff to make sure they meet our standards. Since entries now post to the homepage, they must be on par with existing articles written by our staff.

Please use the entries you see on the homepage as a guide. If you have questions regarding an upcoming article you'd like to write, you are encouraged to contact one of our authors or myself.

You do not need to contact staff to alert them once you have written a new entry. Emails are sent once a new entry is posted and is awaiting staff approval. Please allow 12-24 hours maximum for entries to be published.

5. What topics can I blog about?

You can write about the iPhone, iPod touch and even Mac related topics. Please keep your article within the following categories:


News
Editorials
Reviews
How To Guides
Rumors

6. I own a personal blog. Can I paste a copy of my story here also?

Please do not post content that is copyrighted and/or has been published on another site. Of course, you can write a story regarding a news topic. We just ask that you do not copy and paste stories "word for word". All stories must have original content.

7. Can I link back to the source of a story?

We encourage our bloggers to link to the original source of their story. Please link to the primary source. To avoid possible abuses, we will not allow links to personal blogs and those which we deem are posting only to drive traffic to their respective sites. Major news organizations and popular technology blogs including Engadget, Gizmodo, BGR etc are perfectly acceptable and we do hope that you'll link to the source.

8. How do I add images?

Adding images is very easy using myBlog.


Place the cursor where you'd like your image to appear in your blog entry.
Click on the Images and Document tab on the right in the myBlog dashboard.
Select UPLOAD
Browse your PC/Mac desktop for the image you would like to use. Please use images that are 500 pixels or less in width (if possible). Keep auto resize checked.
Press the UPLOAD button.
myBlog will upload your image and it will appear in your blog entry where your cursor appears.

9. Can I reuse an image used previously?

Yes, all of the images you upload will remain in your image library in myBlog.



Place the cursor where you would like to place your image.
Select the Images and Document tab.
Select the image from your image library.

10. What are some things that are not allowed?



Foul langauge or using &^%$ as a replacement.
Personal attacks
Topics other than iPhone, iPod touch or Mac
Attempting to use the system to promote your website, download service, video conversion software, cellphone sales, spam, etc.
Links to illegal content
Links to iPhone sites that have not shown a similar courtesy to EverythingiCafe
Any sort of copyrighted material.

11. How can I link to myBlog @everythingiCafe?

We appreciate all you can do to promote your blog entries and everythingiCafe. Links to your blog help generate traffic to your blog and ultimately help generate awareness for the site. Not only do we welcome links, but we encourage them.

12. Can I use my "real name" in my blog posts?

Yes, you can use a full name in the forums. Send me a PM and I'll make the change. Your username in the forums will remain the same. However, articles you write will use the full name.

14. How do I add videos to my blog entry?

To add videos, just place the cursor where you'd like the video and paste the YouTube video link to the right where it says Embed Videos. The height and width should be set to 425x344. Once complete, just press return.
The resulting code will look like this. Once your post is published, the video will appear in your post.
