seeing somewhere that you can add words to the "dictionary" on the iphone. how do i add words for the sms text so it stops correcting my spelling and or how do i turn the whole spell checker off

To turn off the auto-correct completely, go to Settings > General > Keyboard, and set Auto-Correction to Off. That should let you type anything you like when texting.

As for adding words, there may well be easier ways than this, but one workaround I saw recently is to add the desired word to one of your contacts. For example, I just added the word ' f***ing' to the 'Pay My Bill' contact entry. Once I'd done that, it let me type that word into a text message without changing it to 'ducking'.

Oh, and the auto-correct is meant to 'learn' and add words on its own, but I think it just takes too long in its learning for a lot of people's taste ...
