I want to rename a third-party application from iTunes. How do I extract or otherwise edit the contents of an application file? I know crackers do it all the time when they edit splashscreens. Once I am able to do this, how do I rename the application?

(I have patched mobileinstallation so iTunes will sync anything to my jailbroken phone.)

Add this source in installer a27dev.com/installer/repo

THen download the app called rename and it is pretty self explanatory from there

I have Cydia. What are my options? Thanks.

Unfortunately the rename programs not in cydia and It's the only way I know of doing it. What do you mean will updates work?

Can I install Installer through Cydia and will it change any of my firmware files?

I meant, if a newer version of the application comes out, will iTunes sync it to my iPhone like it usually does? Will the name stay changed?

I dont think there is a repo for installer in cydia that I know of. Your best bet will be to jailbreak again and add installer there. When an update comes out it will change the name again, but the rename program makes it really easy to change it back

I'm not going to try it because I've heard it's possible to brick the phone when changing third party apps names.

Well I obviously tried that many times and thats how I originally found the installer one, you dont haft to be a smart ass and could just post where you found it.

Every time I jailbroke I revived installer with my cydia. That's odd wish I could help.
