Apple Annouces Its Last Year at Macworld, No Steve Jobs Keynote (http://www.everythingicafe.com/articles/2008/12/16/apple-announces-its-last-year-at-macworld-jobs-will-not-deliver-keynote/)
I don't get it. This has been a big stage for Apple and now they are leaving. Are the Cupertino events on par with Macworld events? Not only that, but no Steve?

It'll be interesting to see how Schiller does - obviously nothing like the showman that Steve is, but still interesting to see how it goes. Also whether that means there won't be any really major new product announcements - because Steve couldn't resist announcing those himself???

Well like they said, they can get so many more people's attention with their ever-growing retail stores, and online. I will still miss the keynotes too.
Does this mean they won't be having WWDC?

For a while now, there have been rumors that Steve Jobs is sick again and that it is more serious than he is letting on.
Could this be because of that, I wonder?

Methinks we'll see something big.

Apple said in its statement that trade shows are becoming less important in reaching its customers, and that it "has been steadily scaling back on trade shows in recent years, including NAB, Macworld New York, Macworld Tokyo and Apple Expo in Paris." In the current downtrodden economy, this might make sense.

well, it probably works if you have an account.
I predict this will be the most watched MacWorld ever, and then the year after that will be non-existent.

Yes, you're probably right. But seems sorta pointless to post a link that not everyone can read, dontcha think? :tounge:

what do you want him to do? make an account for you?
I realize that may sound nasty, but it is just a joke. I'd use a smiley, but i hate them.

I think this is the first sign of the coming Apocalypse.
;)
I am disappointed that I won't get to make it to this Macworld Expo, if at least to say I went to the last one even though Steve isn't presenting. I've seen 2 Steve keynotes and hoped to see more, but this isn't in the cards anymore. :(

I know why Phil Schiller is presenting this year. Because Steve can't possibly introduce the most groundbreaking invention of Apple's yet...
...himself: the iSteve 2.0.

Apple can rebuild him. They have the technology. They have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Jobs will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Why does Apple need Mac World anyway??? You can find out all the latest, hottest Apple news right here at EIC. Remember EIC members and visitors. The world is watching!!! Mark
All it means is that they'll just be announcing products at all the smaller events they host or attend. WWDC, etc

Yeah... But imagine how long you're going to have to sit on iTunes trying to activate him.

I initially thought it could have something to do with Steve's health as well. I usually don't watch it until a while later anyway (the Keynote that is) so I guess I won't really be missing much.

It's probably a good move, because if i remember correctly, Apple stock will plummet if some or all of the product rumors circulating the web are not announced during these various events. Quite a burden to have to live up to the flights of fancy of nobody tech geeks...
