Cannot restore on itunes windoes

hello everyone. I got an iphone 3g 2.2 firmware and when i go to itunes and try to restore it sais "iphone software not found" what do i do. I really need to restore. Im jaikbroken and it lags way too much. Please help

Try this: download 2.2 firmware her: iPhone Firmware 2.2 (http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-5778.20081120.Aqw4R/iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw)

1. Launch iTunes
2. Shift-click Restore for Windows users and option-click restore for Mac users
3. Choose your .IPSW file that you want to restore to (point where you store the firmware 2.2)
4. iTunes will do the rest!

Question on #3, is there an option (like 2.1 or 2.2 etc) that pops up in iTunes or do you have to have the 2.2 FW saved to your computer?

I haven't heard of having to download a file before restoring (but I've never restored as a new phone so I'm not sure). Is the saved file just for JB iPhones, or all iPhones to be restored to factory settings?

Download the 2.2 Firmware that Picazzo posted and save it to your desktop.
