I read that 10.5.6 breaks DFU mode for iPhones and iPod touches? "if you place the iPhone in DFU mode (similar to a restore mode), your iPhone will be unrecognized by a Mac running 10.5.6." Glad i jailbroke on 10.5.5.

how can that be possible?
If you're in DFU, it's bricked unless iTunes can recognize it.

On the plus side, I like this update.
It allows tap to click.

I don't think so. I updated to 10.5.6 earlier tonight and not five minutes later restored in DFU mode. No problem whatsoever.

Last night I read on the deb team blog that if you're having problems with dry on 10.5.6 (which people have reported), it's due to a kernel error rather than a contermeasure on apple's part. They also listed some possible fixes. I'd post a link, but I'm on my phone now.

What about on the new alum. Macbooks is there any speculation about how they are going to fix the dfu mode problem on them? I cant do anyting with my phone on my mac i have to drive and use a xp machine.

Yeah, it breaks DFU, but apparently it's a bug and not intentional. You can replace the 10.5.6 kernels with the 10.5.5 one here: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
Also, if you haven't upgrade yet, I recommend you don't do so. All I've heard is bad things about 10.5.6, from the DFU thing to freezing issues with Time Machine to freezing update processes. Have a peek at this article (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/12/16/new-os-upgrade-not-so-smooth-for-all/).

mine has been OK (Time machine, and everything else). I think there will always be update issues with Time Capsules for SOMEONE... happened to me twice since i got my TC in March.
Haven't tried DFU yet, though.

i may be imagining things, but since 10.5.6 i have noticed a HUGE speed boost to my Time Capsule network. Much less lag in streaming media from it, and transferring files.
anyone else notice it? coasts?
