I am a new (August '08) iPhone 3G owner and love it to pieces. Don't know how I got along without it. I am a former Sprint customer and since the rest of the family is on Sprint it took me a long time to jump ship and go with AT&T. Glad I did!:laugh2:
However, I cannot find a decent or suitable automobile set-up for my phone. Why hasn't Apple or some third party manufacturer come up with something like the Garmin has. My Garmin (and my wife's which is a different model) both have holders that either attach to the dash or in my case use a friction ("bean bag") mount which has a charger interface all built in. This just seems so logical I can't believe no one has developed one yet. I've seen the iLuv and iHome set ups for your desk or night stand which look pretty sweet, but nothing like it for the car. At least that I know of...
Any one have any info to the contrary. I sure would like to set up my iPhone in my Caddy. The Bluetooth works great but I don't want to be fumbling with the phone while I'm driving. (This is my first post. Hope it's not too long!)

Welcome to EIC.
Don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I use this (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripautopilot) to play music in the car.
As far as a holder goes, I have this one (http://store.everythingicafe.com/igrip-universal-fit-sturdy-swivel-mount/3A78A1741.htm), but you might like this (http://store.everythingicafe.com/arkon-weighted-friction-style-dash-mount-and-holder/3A78A3811.htm) better.

Thanks Don. Yes, I saw these on the site the other day. I guess I'll end up going with one or the other since there does not seem to be any other solution.
Ed-
Personally I like this one (http://store.everythingicafe.com/igrip-universal-fit-cigarette-lighter-mount/3A78A1740.htm), why they don't make one that charges the iphone while docked is beyond me

I couldn't agree more. Actually, I almost bought this one until I read that it doesn't charge the phone!!! The other problem with this one and the other one that Don suggested is that they don't leave the bottom open to attach your car charger. Duh!! Wish they would come up with something soon. I can't believe I'm the only one who sees this as a shortcoming. Thanks for your input. :laugh2:

go to www.proclipusa.com (http://www.proclipusa.com)
http://www.proclipusa.com/core/framework/scripts/image.asp?path=/media/images/products/devicecradle/875214.jpg&width=225&height= (http://javascript<b></b>:openWindow('/site/framework/scripts/popup.asp?path=' + escape('/media/images/products/devicecradle/875214.jpg') + '&width=480&height=480&pageid=13758', 'imagepopup', 480, 480);)
it is a two part system one for the car and one for the type of unit you wish to mount. I am using the adjustable Iphone mount (it also swivels). I can use this with my slider case on it or off, I simple adjust it. The second part is the mount specific to your car, and the location in your car. It pushes in and locks in place vent dash ect. I have used many of these for many people, never a failure or drop. The system leaves no marks.
Right now I have an extension bar on a center dash mount for a Ford Fussion. On one clip I have my Iphone and my TomTom. This is simple the best system I have found for mounting anything in a car.

I got this car mount: Windshield Car Mount & Car Charger for Apple iPhone 3G (http://www.igearusa.com/wicarmocarch.html)
it comes with a portable 3G car charger & a 3.5 mm tip for AUX in your car. It works great for me...they also have PDO In Car Hands-free CarFM (http://www.igearusa.com/incarhihakit.html) which was a bit out of my budget. But it sounds like a good car solution.
According to their website:
Product Features:
- Listen to your iPod/iPhone music through your car stereo
- CarFM can tune to any FM frequency between 88.1 and 107.9 MHz
- Four "Quick Select" FM frequencies of 88.1, 94.1, 100.1, and 106.1 MHz
- CarFM charges your iPod/iPhone when plugged in
- For iPhone users, CarFM can serve as a hands-free talking device
- USB socket can charge a second device through USB
- Silicone padding on the arms helps to securely grip your iPod/iPhone
- Adjustable arms can even hold iPods/iPhones with not-so-bulky cases
- Flexible gooseneck design allows CarFM to fit most cars
check it out for yourself: http://www.igearusa.com/incarhihakit.html
let me know if it is any good if someone do buy it!!
thx-

Sham, I do not know. I do not work for Proclip. I have been using them for about 4 years. They are related to Brodit in the UK.
