Wow, just saw on the local news tonight (KCAL 9 News) here in California about jailbreaking the iphone and a guy that made a video he took on Cycorder and downloaded to youtube. They called people who jailbreak are major geeks:eek:.
Here is the link:

Make sure you watch the video.

Oh man, after I looked at what they had on the link it was just a short recap, it didn't even come close to all they said. It was funny because the news anchors had to ask what jailbreaking was and this guy had to try and explain. The actual broadcast said a lot more about Apple and people asking the questions of why Apple won't let us have video on the iphone.

Lag. Tired of it. Getting rid of it is now my top priority.

yea.. the lag can be kind of annoying. if apple would just allow for theming, I really wouldn't need anything else.

Ramesh claims he has no lag using pwnage tool. I asked him in chat tonight to time how long photos takes to open (a dead giveaway for lag on my phone)... he hadn't rebooted or resprung for at least a day or so, and his opened in the usual 2-3 seconds.

Then again Lincoln uses PT also, and he gets the lag. I don't get it, and I don't really care. I can live without Winterboard, Cycorder, and SBsettings, which are the only 3 jailbreak apps I have installed these days anyway. Tired of it.

Oops. Threadjack. Although it is about jailbreaking.

FWIW- My Photos opens in less than 2 sec. (Quickpwn).

I wonder how this guy actually got on the news with his video. I wonder if it will get back to Steve?

My lag isn't unbearable yet but my phone goes in safe mode and I have to turn it off and on, it's becoming a pain. So I might try Ramesh's way this weekend, but I definitely cannot have a stock phone. Like you all know because I keep mentioning it, I can't live without Catagories. I wish there was an app in app store like this, but then again, we all wish for stuff with the iphone. So I will keep on jailbreaking for now.

Speaking of coincidences, I went stock tonight too.

But I have an appointment at the Genius Bar on saturday and wanted a day of the iPhone on stock, lag-free (for the most part) firmware.

When you jailbreak right after updating (like I did), you forget how fast the stock OS is. It's really quite amazing. Not just opening apps, either, but everything from web pages rendering to typing to... well, just about everything is faster than when jailbroken. Again, I know I'm a freak about this stuff, but I'm so much happier now that I'm stock.

Really, it's embarrassing when I say to a client, "hold on, let me call up my little keyboard here to check for your note.... hold on... ... ... it's loading up ... .... just one sec...." tick tock tick.

Oh yeah, and it's really nice for Safari to keep my web pages cached for me. That was easily the most aggravating thing... I'd leave safari to go check my mail and palringo, come back and my page would need to be loaded again. No more.

No, more often than not when I went into Safari, it had to reload my page. It still does occasionally, it seems, but it's a LOT better.

Same reason I left the jailbreak to many risks on it, Plus 2.2 was coming out and I really wanted to update. I know I'll probably jailbreak again cause I keep the Pwnage tool in my iMac just incase. But there is a big difference in speed. And I didn't even think of jailbreakers being geeks. I thought it was a common termonology that everyone used. Though at work and school I have had to explain what jailbreaking is. But the simplicity of it makes me feel far from a geek. It's cool to called a geek cause, I Know more than you. HAHA

This my friend is the reason they call jailbreakers geeks, because they absolutely don't get it, the concept or the simplicity. You have to really like your electronics I guess to want to learn how. I have a couple of friends with iphones that I have tried to talk them into jailbreaking. They look at me like I'm F'n nuts!! But they totally think I am a genius for doing it. If they only new..
But ya, I do think we are some kind of geek when we have interest in changing the phone from it's original state and other's can careless and use it stock.

I thought you were saying the springboard refresh/reboot was containing your lag issues. I just re-jailbroke a day ago and now question my actions. No lag... ...yet.

Well respringing was more convenient than rebooting, but I still had to do it too often. I'd respring right as I got to work, put it in my pocket, take it out an hour and half later and it would be lagging already, without me doing a thing.

I don't think I could live without SBSettings. I've become so addicted to switching on wifi, bluetooth and now location services on the fly. Although when I got my replacement phone a few weeks ago I did notice it was extremely "snappy".

In the original post, did you guys watch the video? It was the guys way of showing Apple that we can have video by making the first music video on the iphone using Cycordia and posting it. I am still wondering how it made the news and because it was done here in CA what Apple might think of it. Any thoughts on the video?

Off topic - or rather on topic now, but i have to regularly restore and JB every few weeks to clear things up. I only jailbreak for 1 app....Cycorder. Occasionally i theme, but stock seems to look goooooood after being themed.

The stupid thing is, i cant actually remember ever using Cycorder, apart from showing people "look, the Iphone can record video... ha :) I suppose i keep it just incase!

funny you mention that... after about a year of messing with themes and whatnot, i don't mind using the standard theme at all now. It just looks like an iphone.

The black background is definitely the most functional. The icons just pop. I'm even getting used to stock icons again, too... not bad at all.

I never was very fashion-conscious.
