Not charging, iTunes isn't recognizing...

My friend has a 8GB first generation iPhone and she ran into a problem, her iPhone won't charge, iTunes isn't recognizing it at all. She's tried restarting it, plugging in into different computers, plugging it into wall things etc. Nothing works, and it doesn't even show that it's charging when it's plugged in. I have a feeling the dock connector is dying but I might be wrong. HELP!

hmh.. I would try a different cable if she can find one; rule that out first..
