referring, of course, to my iPhone platform skills..

Yesterday, my friend revealed to me that his iPod touch is still on version 1.1.2.

i managed to bring it up to 2.2 and jailbreak it.

maybe that doesnt seem like much - but i managed to do it without paying 9.99 for 1.1.3, and 9.99 for 2.0.

i am somewhat proud of myself, i didn't forget anything.

(and i can still do the whole Terminal thing to ruin an iPhone to get it replaced)

Maybe I can get a pm to get the latest firmware update for free on the itouch? I have one that is either 1.1.3 or 1.1.4

all you need to do is find the firmware that begins with iPod1,1_2.0 or something of that sort.

make sure its not 1,2 (that is the second gen touch)

and then download iTunes 8, shift update.

*shrugs* its relatively easy.

after that, when iTunes reports that you have 2.0 on your iPod, just click Update in iTunes.

you'll be at 2.2, and then jailbreak with QuickPwn.

Let's not get into pirating firmware files on the boards, fellas. We already have enough problems with threads about cracked apps popping up.

terribly sorry, just wanted to share.

forgot that apple is very good at making iPod owners pay through the ass (updates, power adapters (swagger, i got your back :P) other things)

hm.

it was fun.

warning: do not take me wrong - i do not advocate stealing from apple.

Sam, I highly doubt Mark would have your back regarding stealing from Apple. Come on now.

i wasnt actually being serious.

i use quick reply, dont know how to do the smileys.

and the iPod used to be on 2.0, somehow the owner messed it up, and put it back on 1.1.2.

Nice work. My bestfriend's iPod Touch 1st Generation was on 1.1.3 when he first bought it, then he upgraded to 2.1 for free using a firmware bundle. Then he upgraded to 2.2 for free using iTunes 8 and jailbroke.
