Is Edge costly

I am thinking about buying the iphone and i know that it has wi-fi which is cool because i have it in my house but what is the Edge network? Can you get it anywhere? Is it Free? How much does it cost if it is not? I saw on the plans that it said internet access was unlimited in all the plans but i am still confused. Sorry about all the questions. Thanks in advance for any one who answers my questions :laugh2:

The base data plan is $20 a month. That includes unlimited EDGE connectivity.

Once you signed up for a data plan(which is $20 a month), you will get unlimited use of Edge internet thru iphone. Of course it will be much slower internet than Wifi. So if you have Wifi, the iphone should detect it and automatically it should switch from Edge internet to Wifi. Then if you go on the road or where there is no Wif internet than you can use your Edge internet that you are paying. It will be slow but still pretty good. EDGE is the best deal ever. Every other data plan is that I've had is more expensive by at least $10.
