So when do you all think it will hit? I think it could be Summer of '09 around WWDC. And I guess I have more of a "Wish List" than simple "Predictions" :tounge:
Release Date Prediction (subject to change, of course):
WWDC 2009
Upgrades:
More Ram and Faster CPU
Larger Screen (Bigger is always better imho, screen only not phone size)
Longer Lasting Battery (Removable? yea right)
More Storage (32gb/64gb)
3-5mp camera with flash
Front Facing Camera (For recording video of yourself/ possible video conf.)
More Bluetooth Compatibility
Better Shell Casing (Carbon Fiber Anyone?)
Higher Resolution Screen (HD?)
Louder Speakers (Just because I've heard some folks mention it )
More Pages Available For Apps (Maybe a grid system scrolling up/down?)
That's about it for now.
Thanks. :laugh2:

I guess that would mean that Indy has been masterbating for quite some time, and in 13 or so days he will finally be able to sleep with the real deal by his side.
Are you excited yet Indy? Maybe Chris will throw an EIC party for ya. Or how about another iPhone give away?

Hahaha...Well, my T-Mobile contract ends in 13 days and due to a few things breaking down around the house throughout the year (oh, the joys of home ownership) every time I had money saved up I ended up having to put it towards things needing to be fixed.
So in actuality, I have not one red cent saved at this moment BUT, I've been asking everyone in the family for Apple gift cards be it 5 or 50 bucks or whatever. I also get a small bonus at work and my wife and I have already agreed that the iphone is going to be my christmas present.
So I'm not getting it in 13 days but will be glad knowing that my contract's are up and I can switch at anytime I please!
I'll probably get a couple Apple gift cards and be able to save a little of my bonus that doesn't go towards paying for the christmas presents bought and I should have a pretty hefty savings come the new year! Oh and let's not forget that if I'm lucky enough to win the 200 bucks from the social drawing I'll be sitting real pretty then!
MacGirl also saved my butt in letting me in on a little secret that I hadn't even considered. I was planning on switching carriers on my birthday which is the 21st, 1 day after the contract ends. Well, guess what, if I were to do that and get another phone the first day of sign up I might not be eligible for the subsidized iphone price leaving me spending $4-500 on the unsubsidized price! I'm glad she mentioned it!
So I will be officially switching carriers and getting an iphone on the same day that I have enough money to do it all, that's gonna be, switching carriers with activation fees, getting my wife some kind of smartphone which she's never had but sure she'll like (I'll get her the wally world version :tounge:) and paying for my iphone.
I'm thinking I'll definately have one sometime in January or shortly thereafter.
And Hey, I'm just excited that it's getting SO close! I'm almost there!:laugh2:
Predicting at this point is mental masturbation.
I know! Isn't it fun!
I love reading and seeing what everyone thinks is going to happen but in the end NOONE truly knows but a few Apple folks!:tounge:

Indy - my wife and I are also planning on switching to ATT and each getting an iPhone; does this mean we won't be able to get the subsidized price on one of the phones?

Well the way I understand it is that when you sign on with AT&T you get whatever phone you want.
You then have 30 days to return that phone if you don't wish to keep it or want to switch to another.
I believe, and don't quote me on this because it's just from what i've read, after the 30 days are over you cannot switch to a new device for 12 months without paying an unsubsidized price. I think that is for ANY phone, be it a blackjack2 or an iphone. At the end of those 12 months you have available an upgrade, where you can now buy another phone at the subsidized price once again.
Please someone tell me if I'm wrong on this, I'd hate to tell someone the wrong way to purchase their phones.
I believe if you were to go in, sign up right then and there and go ahead and get your iphone(s) there is nothing to worry about whatsoever, you will get them at the low subsidized price.
Does this make any sense? I don't intend to confuse anyone.
I called my Apple store a couple days ago and asked them about coming in and just buying a phone right then and there, the employee told me over the phone that when I come into purchase the phone they do the activation in store and based on your plan, be it a new customer or an existing customer with or without available upgrade, you either get a subsidized priced phone or if your not ready for upgrade you pay full price upwards of 4-500 bucks.
That is why I am waiting to make the switch until I am completely ready to walk right in the store and buy service and phone together.
Good Luck! And congratz for you and your wife, you will have fun playing together!

Thanks Indy, that makes perfect sense. It won't change our plans at all. Even if they come out with a new model next summer, I wouldn't upgrade at that time anyway....I ALWAYS wait at least 3-4 months to allow them to work out the kinks!!

I predict a new iPhone around Christmas of 09
psylichon
12-07-2008, 11:46 PM
My predictions:
1. Faster processor. Something that can multitask.
2. Better battery. This happens with every generation pretty much.
3. Thinner frame. Back to a metal design. I see them looking like the new iPod touch only with a dark grey metal (think hematite) or maybe back to aluminum.
4. Better camera. Much better. I would guess 5MP with high-quality video support. Maybe a flash, but real optical autofocus is going to be hard in a case as thin as the iPhone.
5. Larger memory sizes. I think 16GB will be the new baseline, with 32 and perhaps 64 gig models available. Maybe they'll keep the 8 around for Walmart ;)
available next June, along with cut-and-paste and MMS support for ALL iPhones.

1. Move that "big" HOME button to the right side, and let's have some more screen.
2. Please...please don't make the backside round...it's not that good on a table.
3. Faster processor/more disk is always nice.
4. Front camera, better resolution and option for hiding the camera lens on the back.
5. Option for changing the plastic cover on the backside for more personal look.

Better OS, better design, longer/wider screen, better resolution, mms/copy-paste/text forwaring, sending SMS to more than one person, 32GB+ storage size, better Bluetooth that works with all phones and comptuers, and better security so it wouldn't get jailbroken. I'm sure there are a lot more but those are the only ones I can recall for now.

Apple is getting carried away. A 7 or 9 inch screen. Can you image how much that'll cost. Your looking at a screen bigger that the ipod touch itself.

I would love: ad2p, louder speakers, keyboard, mini-sd slot . . . wait, did I just describe the Palm Pre
I had a treo for many years and I was actually excited about the Palm Foleo. I think a iphone Foleo would be quite handy. I would take that instead of a slide out keyboard.
Still love my 3g :2cool:
I've said it once, and I'll say it again... more tapered edges
More advanced battery (citing what they've learned from the MBP 17" refresh)
System on Chip (fresh off the grill at the PA Semi kitchen) - faster than iPod touch 2g, same architecture so nothing is made incompatible
Plastic case, or maybe carbon fiber. iPhonochromatic. Colors all around the edge (no more out-of-place-looking chrome ring)
New software update with better notification support, App Flow (cover flow for the home screen) and new Safari with better page retention (response to Palm WebOS)
OLED

I'll add to the better notifications.
I'd love to see a hardware light like the Blackberry. Simple little LED light that blinks when you have a message (email, SMS or VM)
Ideally Apple could use different colors for the notifications?
Also, on the apps front... I'd love to see a "unread mail" box (or smart mailbox). As it is right now, if you have rules running on Exchange you need to search for the unread messages.
V card attachment would be nice as well.

Just thought of one that wouldn't surprise me at all:
A dedicated camera/shutter button to open/take pics instantly. Combined with sweet new camera hardware, this would really do it for me.

Now you mean by shutter and open like, a type of cover over the lens as some digital cameras have to protect the lens? Because I would like to see that, I'd say the current lens on the iphone is a little vulnerable to caked up dust around the inside edge and prone to scratching if not really careful.

Could it be that we are only a few months away from a new iPhone?

I was just thinking, but could this possibly be an addition to the iPhone rather than a revision? I thought of this because its now 2,1 instead of 1,3. So far for the revisions of the iPhone and iTouch they changed from 1,1 to 1,2. Why else would they have 2 numbers?

Sure, throw everything against the wall... Something will stick.
Haha! Yea my "wish list" is a bit far fetched so I've decided to keep my expectations real low so that I might be suprised. :tounge:
My "realistic" prediction will probably be as follows...
A bit faster processor. The Palm Pre already has the iPhone beat as far as this goes I believe and has anyone seen the new Toshiba TG01? 1ghz Snapdragon Processor with a 4.1" screen...ok ok, don't get me started.
More RAM = less crashing, assist in background apps running
32gb
Upgraded Single Camera on the back with video.
As much as I'd like to see more bells and whistles (iChat cam on front, larger screen) I believe these are a bit more likely to happen this summer than the others.

It wouldn't surprise me if Apple went the way of the iPod nano following the iPod and brought out a stripped-down iPhone next, possibly alongside an update to the existing model.
But what would an iPhone shuffle be like? Hit the one button to randomly call someone from your Address Book? :)

3. Faster processor/more disk is always nice. sure, why not?
4. Front camera, better resolution and option for hiding the camera lens on the back. nope, no way. not necessary
5. Option for changing the plastic cover on the backside for more personal look. as greedy as apple is, there not gonna make it that easy for you. if they do release more colors, youll have to buy a completely new one

I find it difficult to believe that during their initial brainstorming sessions that topic didn't come up. Creating a product for the masses is not a "spare no expenses" situation... Here's always a balance between features and cost.
Could it be that the first 2 'embodiments' of the iPhone, v.1 and 3G, were put out there without all the bell-and-whistles for the purpose of testing the waters? Now that the iPhone has such a huge roll in the mobile market, maybe Apple will give us what we all want with the iPhone 2.1 in June.

...maybe Apple will give us what we all want...
the problem is everybody wants different stuff. If it turns out that adding a front-facing camera adds $100 to the cost of the phone, i'd pass. I'd hardly ever use it. Hell, i barely even use the one i have now.
That is the limitation of ONE model. Apple has to make compromises so that it's appealing to the biggest collection of people possible.

I've suggested this in two other forums in the past month and I totally agree.
The iPhone 3G was made cheap and fast to see just how many they would sell. What are we up to now 13 something million? I'd say they've done fairly well with selling the iPhone so far, wouldn't you? Wouldn't you agree the iPhone 3G was for massive exposure? Other countries. Maybe even go as far to say slightly more affordable to get into, maybe not in the long run but I'm talking about 'in your face', couple hundred bucks to get one of the best smartphones money can buy.
Now it's time for Apple to show all these new Apple customers and new Apple fans what they can really do!
Ok, I need to simmer down now as I keep forgeting that I don't need to be excited for anything new...I want to be suprised this time.

Hmm. It is Apple though...
They don't often adhere to the norm when it comes to releases.
If you look at the iPod, the reason it's the most popular music player and has been for so long has a lot to do with its constant revisions. Usually at least once per year.
They haven't sat back and counted the cash when it comes to digital music players so I doubt they'll do the same while they're riding high in the smartphone market.
I think the key concern would be growing market share by introducing a more mass-market device at a reduced cost.
Then again, they did originally refuse to subsidise the cost of the iPhone due to the belief that it would affect the perceived value of the phone.
They're a crazy, arrogant bunch but I love them! :)

I hope the next iPhone has the same specs as the Samsung Omnia HD!
http://infotainment.samsungmobile.com/
Yea, those are some very nice specs.
What bugs me about it though is, will these new super smartphones being announced this week at MWC with all these great features and all these new powerful, beefy processors ever be released in the USA? Not that I'm gonna get one, I'm still gunning for the iPhone regardless but, sure they will compete with the iPhone in other countries no doubt but ya know, we don't see many of the phones that the rest of the world sees over here except through magazines and online.
Besides, if they do make it stateside, unless a carrier over here picks them up and subsidizes the price then we'll just see them at Best Buy for $8-900 which in that case, how would that be in direct competition with the iPhone?
I dunno...I just wonder how many of these newly announced phones this week we'll see over here on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and/or Sprint.

The nano, because it's the more popular and better selling iPod (right?)
The iMac, because they have made (almost) all of their computers to look the same now, so they might start bringing in the little things like the iPods/iPhone.
Either that I just don't like the look of the classic as much as the other things lol

Any plans as far as what you will do if a new one is not announced? Will you stick to your beloved V.1 or will you maybe look at some of the newer phones being announced mid-year (Pre, etc...) or maybe give in to the 3G?

• Memory: The new iPhone and iPod Touch will have a larger amount of system memory
• Concurrent Apps: An increase in CPU speed and system memory will allow more than one app to remain resident at a time.
• Sandboxing Shared-Space: Apps will remain sandboxed from each other and from the system apps. However, the new iPhone platform will provide for shared-space to be used by any application
• Substantially Improved Battery Life: Utilizing technologies most recently on display in the 17″ MacBook Pro
• Form Factor: New iPhone will look slightly different but will be a similar size overall
• To-Do Sync for MobileMe
• Safari 4 and Cover Flow
• Cut and Paste with system-wide "clipboard"
• Pricing: Users with existing iPhones (http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/20400/#) will be given the option to upgrade before their contract expires with a reduced rate for the new iPhone

That list is perfectly reasonable...but it is likely Apple will have a WOW factor or 2 thrown in to seriously compete.
One thing that bugs the crap out of me with these wishlists and iPhone users in general is the importance of a light notification beacon. This is one of the worst oversights of the first two iPhones. Being totally dependent on hearing/feeling a message come in or picking up the phone just to check for anything isn't very high tech. Why the home button doesn't glow different light notifications when that is totally Apple's style is mind vexxing. It's just plain poor design to not have it. I get the feeling the average iPhone user has never used any other smartphone. I came off the tmobile Sidekick and that phone does an excellent job of keeping you connected and notified. The G1 kills the iPhone in this department as well with the beacon in the speaker and the interactive notification bar.
It's time these lists started including something that should have been a given from day one.
One thing I've seen mentioned time and time again is that most people do not consider the iPhone 3G as a huge upgrade from the first iPhone. I'll have to agree. I mean, sure you get gps and 3g (faster?) speeds but as far as build quality and all the complaints of cracking and whatnot, I'd say its actually a step backwards. 3G iPhones, if you ask me, were made by apple cheap and fast to see how many would sell worldwide. If someone has a problem with screen or cracking or whatever, replace it and move them right along, just sell as many as possible so we can make a huge footprint in this market. With that said, maybe a new version this summer will be built a little better (like v.1), be a little faster, etc... I however will be happy with any new model or if nothing new, I'll be just fine with a current gen 3G. I guess what is key here, when reading all these dream/wish list is to remember to keep it fun and not get too TOO excited over anything. I forsee a LOT of angry iPhone fans after WWDC when half their list doesn't come true, or dare I say it, nothing changes AT ALL! Anyways, early morning rant, sorry to drag on and sorry for the long paragraph, I'm posting from EIC MOBILE BETA from my sidekick3. =/

Many good points, Indy. I think the refresh of the iPhone will continue to be evolutionary. Where I think we'll see some revolutionary changes is a couple of years further when Apple releases an LTE compatible iPhone and the AT&T exclusivity is expired. Imagine an unlocked data machine capable of download speeds comparable to cable modems.
@Eragon. LTE will just be sick on a iPhone in a couple years. Imagine what the iPhone will look like and features it will have by then. Of course, hehe, it hasn't changed THAT MUCH in the recent 2 years. The App store has been a game changer but you know what I mean. :D Here's a bit more on WiMax and LTE that I read yesterday. Pretty interesting and informative read. Oops check next post for link. vvv

Good link, Indy. The future is certainly going to be exciting. With LTE, iPhones will have no problem chomping up 5 GB of data. Just last month, I achieved the unbelievable - 5.2 Gb in one month.
Faster downloads will translate into less time to hit the 5 Gb cap. From the article, I wonder if unlimited data will truly mean unlimited?

As far as what we’ve been told of iPhone 3.0, here’s what we’ve got:
MMS
Tethering via Bluetooth and USB
We’re working hard to get some more information and know that our list above isn’t exactly thorough, but hey, it’s something! Plus, there has to be copy and paste, right?
thats all folks
03-12-2009, 11:00 PM
Very well put!
Couple of thing's lead me to believe that apple will show a new I-Phone, their stock has not been stable, steve jobs out(sick) no real "major" product release besides the new ipod shuffle that I know of. It seems many have started to think that apple can not run or create new fresh products without steve and this has investers worried. So what great way to put faith back in apple, release a new I-phone.

Steve Jobs doesn't design and engineer everything for apple. They're a massive conglomerate that has steadily been cranking out solid products for a while now. That isn't going to fall apart because SJ has been out for a couple of months.
and two weeks ago they released completely refreshed versions of the iMacs, Mac Minis, and Mac Pros.

Many people associate design ect with steve jobs, their was a money show on today that was questioning apple without steve. I guess for me the iMacs, Mac Minis, and Mac Pros had nothing that was ground breaking, same computer with some tweaks. But I see what your saying.

no, they didn't get pretty new faces, but the innards were all completely refreshed. new graphics, DDR3 memory, processors, etc.
anyway, if we're talking long-term jobs-less apple, yeah, i'm sure there will be many changes. He is certainly the main guy responsible for their continued success. But my point is a company like that doesn't go designing things willy-nilly inside the span of a few months, or change their mission statement because the boss is on sabbatical.

so, will the new iphone be announced on 3/14/2009 with the iphone 3.0 software? :D
The 3.0 software "preview" is this Tuesday. 3/17/09.
I doubt they will "announce" 3.0 then, well they pretty much already HAVE announced it's coming right?
I think we will see 3.0 released alongside a new iPhone at WWDC this year sometime in June. Probably 3.0 will be available the day of and new iPhone (assuming there definatley will be one) be released sometime in July.
Btw, this preview on Tuesday may reveal some new, if any, hardware upgrades, or better yet, lead us on a wild rumor goose chase for the next 2 or 3 months.
Should be an exciting St. Patty's day nonetheless! :laugh2:
While I've still got a minute, I think I'll go ahead and revise my want/prediction hardware upgrade list on a more realistic scale.
More RAM. 256 maybe? The Pre has 256 along with nearly every other smartphone coming out this year. Would this not make things smoother?
Updated Processor. Speed? Graphics?
Higher Capacity. 32GB. If this doesn't come, I think this will be the biggest shocker to most.
Upgraded Camera. With Video perhaps? Slightly Higher MP?
Upgraded Casing. I'm not thrilled about the plastic, but it is what it is, not that big of a deal.
That's all for now.
But regardless of what happens. I'll have one shortly after WWDC. If they upgraded it a little bit that would just be a bonus.

More RAM and a Notification Light are a must. Remember that people.... No - Ti - Fi - Ca - Tion Light. That means you know if you have a message before needing to bother with picking up the phone and you know what kind of message you have without picking up the phone by the color of the light. Very handy feature, really. Goes hand in hand with push notifications and running programs in the background. Try looking at other phones that know this should be a basic hardware requirement.
Then the software update needs to allow for landscape typing ANYTIME and EVERYTIME you want to use it and with any program. A hardware keyboard would sweeten and solidify the phone even more.

Yes landscape typing is a feature that most iPhone users are stressing, but a hardware keyboard seems very very unlikely. :/

a physical keyboard would destroy everything the iphone is about.
And what exactly is that? The total touch screen experience is no longer new and groundbreaking. There is a danger of becoming a cliché. The G1 is already about to giver users total control and choice over interface style. Apple needs a new way to WOW the world. The physical keyboard wouldn't be the answer either, just recognizing that there is usefulness in the flexibility. You don't ever have to use it if you don't want to, but you can. But to not provide it would risk losing many potential customers. Personally, I like not having to put my full attention on the on screen keyboard when I can have the tactile info of a physical keyboard to allow me to divide my attention and have my eyes elsewhere.

Sorry, I don't buy the cliche' argument. They were the manufacturer to make mice a standard part of the computer, and they didn't feel the need to look for something different when everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.
I really don't think apple's worried about losing customers due to the lack of a physical keyboard. Why should they? Their share of the smartphone market speaks for itself... All built on touchscreen keyboards. They can't build a phone that will please everyone.

If Apple actually operated as you think, they'd be out of business already.
Their share of the smartphone market can and will be easily taken away. The touchscreen is a standard, the virtual keyboard as the only option is not. Eventually people will realize they do not have to share their viewable area with a virtual keyboard.
As it stands, it's already projected Apple fall behind by 2011. The G1 and the Pre are only the beginning. Smartphones that give you touch screen and physical keyboard access are currently in short supply option wise. Soon it will be the standard. Do you really think Apple is going to hold up ignoring that? There will always be some people who cling to touch screen only..precisely why a touch screen-only Android phone is due out shortly from Tmobile following the G1. If Apple is smart, they'll follow suit.

I suppose you are correct, but if Apple is "following suit" they would have integrated many things that we had on phones before (MMS, Video, CUT AND PASTE, etc.). Apple likes to do things their way, and I'm pretty sure they are going to stick to that.

Exactly. When I see a physical keyboard, I immediately think to myself, "I wonder how long it'll be before that breaks".
Sharing screen space with a keyboard isn't an issue. You only "share" when you're actually typing something, and even then there's still plenty of space to see what you're doing.

You should be embarassed at yourself if that is the best you have.
I had the G1. Yes, it is bulky, but it is hardly an example of modern phone hardware design.
It is also faster, has better voice quality and can hold up to 32 Gigs.
It simply wasn't ready for prime time....but Android is a serious contender.

Those things have very little to do with not "following suit." Their focus for the iphone features were in other departments, particularly the browsing experience. Those are features they thought "we'll get to this later."

I fail to see how the Pre is hideous, but I agree each to his own. I would expect Apple to have multiple models. I've been saying this...precisely why I cited the G1 and it's coming touch-screen only follow up (which does look better than the G1.)

Different strokes, I guess. I find the view in landscape to be plenty sufficient.
And while you may have had a good experience with two physical keyboards, think about it on a global scale. With apple's policy of "if it's broken, swap it out on the spot," their refurbishment overhead would skyrocket if they added a slide-out keyboard.

I agree that the virtual keyboard is not going anywhere not only because it works and has been accepted by most of the mobile community, but also because of the reason Hippo stated above: it's just more robust. The V1 iPhone is the most solid piece of mobile tech I've ever witnessed, and it's largely due to its solid state interface with minimal buttons.

No has claimed the VK is going anywhere and neither is the physical keyboard. It is highly likely Apple will release a phone with a physical keyboard. It's matter of designing the hardware to their satisfaction.
The presumption here has been that a physical keyboard means relying on it. The G1 did do that much as iPhone forces you to use portrait VK for most purposes. Now the G1 simply gives you the choice. You don't ever have to use the physical keyboard and you have complete control over whether it's portrait or landscape.
Apple simply cannot continue to force one type of interface on their users while mobiles that offer more options and fluidity of interface hit the market.
What is Apple going to do that places it a cut above the rest?

As long as we would still have the option to portrait text then I would be fine with landscape. It's just one of those things people ask for that I can't see myself using. I think it's odd enough using landscape in Safari.

Of course they can force one interface on everyone. That's what they do.
And Apple IS a cut above the rest, imo. Partly BECAUSE OF the lack of a physical keyboard... not in spite of it.
I have no way to prove this, but i think adding a physical keyboard to the iphone is the last thing apple would do with the platform. All it would do is add bulk, vulnerability, and redundancy.
Youngbinks
03-16-2009, 02:13 PM
I agree with Hippo. I think adding a physical keyboard would certainly be a step back for Apple. If the virtual keyboard has been wildly successful on two different models already, I don't see Apple changing that up much.

I agree on several points here.
• No physical keyboard. Yuck yuck yuck.
• I've tried landscape texting with BiteSMS. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
• I dislike the look of both the Pre and the G1. I think the bodies are clunky and don't look too appealing. I think the same about the G1's UI - the Pre's however, is fairly nice.

With iPhone OS 3.0 preview coming up within next couple of days, I can share this:
Couple of days ago, my friend who works at Apple HQ in Cupertino sent me some of the screenshot for upcoming iPhone OS 3.0.
Sadly, attached with the email was also a PDF of NDA, which I had to sign and mail back. Therefore, I can't share the actual screenshot.
However, I can describe it to you, since Kevin Rose described it on live Diggnation. (which my friend attended, he's a huge fan of Diggnation)
First, the copy and paste. Kevin Rose got that right on! It is exactly how it works. However, Apple, always scared of battery issue, has limited the copy and paste to certain apps, such as Mail, Safari, etc. This is because iPhone and iPod touch uses lot of power on memory, therefore, the copy and paste is limited. But the how it works is exactly how Kevin Rose described it.
Now, the background process. The word is that Push Notification was failure. It did not work exactly as planned. Therefore, there will be a limited background support, up to 3 apps (may subject to change). The limit is to prevent iPhone from draining the battery like crazy hell.
Finally, redesign of the home screen. Not much changes, except users can now put personal background on the home screen, as well as adding more apps to the dock, expanding the limit from four to about seven, and stacks to organize the apps. This is how Apple will let users organize apps on the iPhone.
Now, my friend also sent me shots of what is the next iPhone. Someone already posted this pic, but the next iPhone will have a shell that is full unibody, carved from one aluminum. This means plastic will be gone (hopefully)
That's all I can share. Let's hope what I got on the email is right on for Mar. 17.

Yeah, but this type of thing is spicing up EIC once again. Can't freakin wait till 1:00 pm.

And for fun, Mobilecrunch has put out a 3.0 scorecard:

It's not about going through the pages... you just keep refreshing to see the chatter. It will be a lot more informative tomorrow. If you're not following the live feeds.

Moreso than c&p.

Hmmm i know people with 0 rep have little cred, but i just dont know... its driving me mad. I hope that the new Iphone has an all alum body, but i just cant see that being revealed today. I think it will be 1 big screen behind the speaker showing what can be done... i dont think we will see a new Iphone today - although i hope im wrong.
Also, im having a hard time believing this reveal will be what 3.0 actually performs like. We have already been told its a little snapshot of "what were building". We already know they were "building" push notification server, and looks where thats gone!! im just trying not to get my hopes up i think!! ;)
Im on the aluminum bandwagon as well! :D Software can always be added with an update.
Show of hands. Who thinks we'll see a release date announced for the Palm Pre today, oh say, right around Apple's meeting or shortly thereafter?

For Palm and Sprint's sakes, I hope so. The longer it takes Palm and Sprint to announce a release date, the less likely it becomes that the Pre could be released.
Here are a couple pics from that thread link I posted earlier over at MR. Oh yea, and these links are being posted with c&p on my sidekick3 like I've been doing for the past 2 years. LoL, just thought I'd throw that in there for, ya know, errr....laughs....*crickets*....not funny...ANNNNYWAYS! i like the idea, but not the white. hopefully they make it in black too.
although the presence of the front-facing camera AND the LED indicator make me think it's some geek's pipe dream.

It looks more aluminum/metal like the new macbooks to me more than it does white.

I guess I was correct on the hardware keyboard....maybe not in how it would be available....but available nonetheless.
As for the person who suggested I learn to use the VK.... How silly. I'm typing my posts on my iPhone. It's all about tactile info and being able to type quickly and accurately without looking at the keys at all. Before anyone starts bragging about how they can do this with the VK....make sure you are doing it not looking at the phone at all. This is what physical keyboard users do.

That was probably me, and that comment was to others in general, not directed at you. If you're a whiz at using the virtual keyboard, then goody for you. But a lot of people aren't.

Here is hoping. :laugh2: I know some say it will most likely show up in a version 4 iPhone, and the new iPhone in June will most likely just be a camera, memory upgrade with a slight CPU upgrade. However, nearly 2 months ago there was the revelation of a 2,1 device which would indicate a major upgrade in hardware. It would rock my world if they release a multi-core device. :laugh2:

I saw this too. Very interesting. It goes to show how difficult it would be for Apple to hide hardware developments, when one can look under the hood at code that might give hints.
