I'm seriously debating to whether or not I should keep up with the news on Tuesday as it unfolds. You see, I'll be at work all day and I'm sure enough to be busy as hell on that specific day.

So I'll either (A) check my phone every 10 minutes for any updates during the conference and find out all the goodies as they happen, therefore getting absolutely nothing done work-wise, or (B) not look at my phone the entire day, don't read the news, don't read any forums and when I get home at that night go to apple.com and download the keynote and watch it with my wife, this would be her first keynote to watch and she promised she would share the moment. :tounge:

So if I take option 'B', I will know NOTHING until my son is in bed and my wife and I settle in with a bowl of popcorn in front of the computer, this could be very exciting or it could eat away at me all day, knowing that everyone else knows what going on or has happened and I know nothing or I could ruin my day by sneeking around on my phone.

I'm leaning towards 'B', as much as the wait is gonna kill me. :wink:

I don't know why, but I always forget you don't have an iphone. It is so easy to follow the news on the iphone, but I don't know how easy it would be on a different device. 10am PT is 2 hours behind you I believe, so 10am PT is really 12 noon for you.

Lets hope that is a quick dentist appointment or you might be forced to use the sidekick. I would still rather be on a computer to be able to keep updated with a couple websites too. Its all good man, I love it! I've often thought that people would think, "man, this guy sits in front of his computer in his cubicle all day and plays on the internet". When actually, I'm a Chief engineer at a survey company and I'm usually out in the middle of the woods somewhere hiking around like some wild jungle man. Because last Summer before the iPhone 3G went on sale they set up a credit check on their site. All you had to do was go through their verification on their website and then print it out and take it to the store. It just saved the extra step and waiting while getting the new iPhone. Of course, they could change the procedure for this year, and do things differently.

Now that I think about it some more, the credit check online may have been done weeks later after the 3G went on sale. I think initially you had to do the credit check in the store.

Well someone on mac rumors pointed out that the old headphones are in the picture rather than the new ones with the microphone/phone/ipod controller, so it isn't perfect but as close as you can get. I think the concept artists are getting that good and they do deserve an award. Lets just hope that it is a picture and they got their hands on the picture of the new iphone :laugh2:

The way I understand it, it should be in tandem with AT&T also. I think AT&T would have the same kind of credit check on their website also for the new iPhone. Just something to keep an eye out for when the new iPhone is revealed and a release date is announced.

I don't think apple will give up the thickness that they currently have and the leaked matte back seemed to be as thick as the glossy one we have now. I don't think anyone complains about the thickness of them now so why change it. Even if they used OLED screens they would probably use the extra space for a bigger battery and not make the phone much thinner. The phone has to feel comfortable to hold because you talk on it and use it in many more ways than an ipod touch. And they just make the ipods as thin as they can.

HA! These are great! I do love the way the matte looks! I don't care for the thinness right now. If the final were like that I would get used to it, but I don't think it will be the final. There is too much going on inside the phone for it to be that thin now. Plus we were provided with a picture of the circuit board on some posts some last week I believe and that could never fit in this thing.

I have some criticism for it though, first off it's still on 2.2.1 not 3.0 and the new phone will never have a 2.x on it. That earpiece set up it odd with 2 of them I just don't get it. But two things I noticed were an additional button I have heard people bring up on the side with no buttons for the camera and the headset jack is moved to the bottom.

This is a great idea. Because next year we will be going through this all over again. It would be great to have a reference to check back on. I have kept a few predictions for this next generation iPhone so I can compare them to the real iPhone when it is unveiled.

People i think just want so much more upgrades, i mean i like the v1 look and feel more than my 3g, for me i just want it to be super fast, and i could care less about screen size and good graphics. But i would like a better back because the plastic makes my 3g feel so fragile

I think there were many reasons for the way they did things so early this year. Mainly, they botched the release of the 3G and software version 2.0 on the same day so horribly last year, they don't want to go through that again. My prediction is they'll let current iPhone users get OS 3.0 at least a week before they release the next phone to avoid all the server issues that occurred on July 11, 2008.

Still, I hope they do release the next phone sooner rather than later. I've been staring at a cracked screen for way too long o.O

That's what I'm thinking, we will see them release much earlier to make sure they don't allow the Pre to grab too many customers. The old 3g symbol was the first thing I saw and apple would be meticulous about a detail like that. I think you might be right about the magnifying glass but I can say for sure. The bottom bar icons look old though almost like they just pasted the middle part in there. The phone, mail, and ipod icons look like older ones.

I realize that psylichon. My point was that typically that date either changes everytime you sync and/or is way off in the future.

Just wondered if it was a coincidence that it was set as the end date of the WWDC in the thought process that they might roll out 3.0 first to current users before over burdening their servers with a new iphone release and the problems that occured with the 3G roll out and software update on the same date.

I could see this implemented in 2011 when LTE 4g is introduced. I doubt the 3g whether it be upgraded 3g or not could handle it nor would at&t want it over their network. Can you even imagine in 2011 what the 5.0 update will have in store for us :wink:?

Reading this thread (post #14 & #20) I found it interesting how people are referencing back to the time showed on the screen as to when the iPhone(s) were first introduced. I think someone says in there somewhere the new leaked screen shot has 10:42 on the clock. I'll be paying close attention when that time rolls around. I very much hope they do something similar this year, and I'm kicking myself for getting a black 16GB 3G iPhone. EVERYONE has a black one because most people didn't want to pay the extra money. Well I wanted and needed the space -- I only have about a gig of free space right now -- so I was going to buy a 16GB anyway. Now, all I see are black iPhones -- mostly 8GB -- and I've maybe seen five white ones since they came out almost a year ago.

32 is what I'm getting! I am thinking about that black bezel. On the black it will be awesome, especially for me because I am sick of the chrome bezel.

Now, hear me out on this one, if the white comes with a black bezel. then I might have to get white. My plan was just to get the black because that's just what I like. However, if the white has a black bezel....OMG!! Depending on how it looks, I might have to get the white. The color combination just seems awesome. :gasp:

Although I kinda doubt Apple will do that. The white might have a snarky little whiteish or matching white bezel. If that's the case then Black it will be.

It makes a lot of sense if this new iPhone's main feature is video recording and editing. They could also just refer to it as 'iPhone V' or 'iPhone V3', an abbreviation for 'version 3' or 'video 3rd generation'.

So let's say, what if, the headphone jack is now on the bottom so that your headphone cord doesn't hang over the front of the phone or interfere with the front facing camera while on a video call or recording/taking a video/picture of yourself (and friends).

And the new slot at the top is a new microphone facing you more directly for video calls or recording video so that audio is picked up crisp and clear. Also it would accomodate the new 'audio recording' app perfectly.

Thoughts?

I have lots of thoughts, just warning you:smile:
Whew that's a lot to think about :laugh2: I definitely think the headphone jack would be much more convenient at the bottom for all the reasons you mentioned, it does kinda get in the way at the top. The only things I'm not sure about would be if that's a microphone and the bottom has 1 less spot what will be on the bottom, speaker or mic? If there wasn't a mic and the only one was at the top no one would hear you on normal ear to the earpiece calls, unless like like you said that the case would be upside down with the opening for the mic below the home button. I see a problem with that though because if you are on speakerphone playing around doing other things you'd keep bumping and brushing against the mic if it were below the home button which wouldn't be good for the person on the other end of the call, but I think all in all people would hear you better since it's closer to you mouth on normal calls. Maybe with video calls they will sell(possibly include) a stereo bluetooth headset to eliminate cords, so if you want to use them you can deal with the cord hanging over the phone. That's just my thoughts, not angry or anything, I am just thinking about the real life things we might run into with these changes.

Yeah I think the new one at the bottom would be nice for video/ video-chat and speakerphone. But if the headphone jack is moved to the bottom and we still have a mic down there then where's the speaker going to be? I think if they add the new one at the bottom they will make the one on the bottom the speaker. I just don't see a mic and earpiece at the top. I would settle for the headphone jack to stay at the top if we can get two speakers at the bottom and the new mic being below the home button.

You cant put the headphone jack on the bottom without eliminating the existing mic, or making it smaller, which would look and feel odd.

I think this is shocking. It's not for the v1 owners but for the 3g owners, who got the cash out in the first place to buy a 3g- aren't getting anything slung there way. This isn't good for me.

I don't know if I'll be waiting outside an at&t store, but I am close to enough of them that most people wouldn't know about so maybe I'd get there in time. Or "we wanted to release these in July but we are to anxious for you to get your hands on one, so starting right now you can get one from all iphone sellers"

I really don't see the problem with that. The majority of current iPhone owners that want the new iPhone are probably going to want the next iPhone too so they will have to be with AT&T anyway. Besides, you can't have everything you want. (Not you specifically, the general public)
