Can someone tell me how to transfer my Itunes library to my external hard drive without screwing anything up. I don't want to take too much space on my computer if I have a external at my finger tips.

Craete a folder on your external EX: My music. Than copy your music folder from your pc to the new folder on the external. (cut instead of copy if you don't want the music on both your pc and external). Than go to Itunes (on your PC) Go to "edit" on the tool bar, chose "prefences" than chose "advanced" go to "Itunes music folder location" and change it to the new folder on your external.

Once you are sure everything is working you can go back to your pc and deleted your itunes music files. This will free up the space you want on your PC.

Good luck!!

All is complete, but in order to add the files that where tranfered you have to go to the toolbar, click File, then Add folder to Library. Now everything is appearing like it should. Hopefully lifes good for now on. :)

I had to erase (restore) my phone in order for this to work. Itunes thinks I'm using another computer.

That's bizarre. I would think that iTunes would still recognize it as using the same computer but it might think that it is a different library. I could imagine getting the message like "syncing this library will erase the previous one" but not asking for a restore.

Is that what you meant?
