personally I don't think the iPhone 3g is a piece of "donkey crap". I think its a great piece of (crippled) technology. If it wasn't crippled (bluetooth, mms, copy/paste, file access) it would probably be the best phone on the market. That said, for me anyhow function trumps style and fun apps. That's why I've been with Nokia and BlackBerry for the last several months :/ If the 3rd gen iphone comes out and is opened up, I'm running back to the iPhone. Especially if it has BlackBerry connect.

My dad and I received an SMS from Mobinil (our network provider) saying that they are selling iPhone 3Gs now. 3800 Egyptian Pounds which is like $700 USD or a bit more. But at least unlocked and of course the 3G works on them. I am going to go to my network provider and see if they can adjust the settings for me so I'd be able to use 3G. I don't know if it's even fast here, but who knows? Haha.

@acosmichippo, you're close but not much. I got it because of what every one here kept saying about it (by here I mean my country). And because I know a lot of people online who had it before me and they loved it, so it was an opportunity since I was already in the States.

Well I don't think that complaining about lack of 3G when you didn't purchase it from a legitimate reseller is a valid argument. Sure it make lack in other areas but complaining because you don't get 3G is a different matter.

Look Binks, I know we're not supposed to use it in countries other than the States but they should at least sell unlocked ones so people from abroad can use 3G and GPS as much as they want. I was willing to pay $800 or even more for an unlocked one, I actually was going to be a locked 16GB for $910 but I was like, locked and for that price? No way. So I decided to buy the 8gb from someone else and found it for $650, so I went ahead and bought it. So you see how much I wanted it? I was dying for it. Surprisngly enough, three days after using it I felt like that it sucks and is not satisfying me what so ever.

Oh and lets cut the crap here, do you really think an iPhone 3G is better than a Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia E90i, or a Nokia E71 even? Exclude the size difference, type (touch screen or not), and appearance, although all the Nokia phones I listed here are awesome looking except for the E90i. I am talking about the features, capabilities, and ease of use here. So which one do you think is better?

Enough said and one my friend. Oh and don't forget that the bluetooth in the iPhone isn't even counted, roflmao, you can't even send or receive anything from other phones through Bluetooth. It's only good for bluetooth earphones, specific types too I think?

I did read a review that pissed me off though, the guy said "the nokia is allredy sick with 5 mega camera not advance camera like 8 mega in samsung shame on you nokia ..............!?". He's absolutely right, they should have made it 8MP. The iPhone is still stuck with a 2 MP camera? Roflmao.

It is perfectly possible to buy the iPhone in other countries that are unlocked. If you buy an iPhone in the U.S. you should be aware that it is locked to the AT&T network. That's not a surprise. The iPhone has been locked to AT&T since June of 2007. I don't really think a matter of "wanting it enough" to spend more on it is going to convince Apple and AT&T to break their contract.

And if you want to compare the phones, is there anything else you want to exclude? If you're going to make a comparison, don't exclude things. Why not exclude the hard drive capacity, availability, cost or anything else just to make said phone seem better?

And for the record. I've had Nokia phones. Had being the key word.

Well, I am not bashing the phone, I am simply stating my opinion, and I am not saying that every one else should hate it you know. I did buy the iPhone 3G and of course it won't be fair for me to say (IT SUCKS, DON'T BUY IT GUYS) so I am just saying that it's crap and I hate it, although every one else here loves it. The size of the latest Nokia phones has become a bit bulky, maybe it's because they are really advanced and there are too many chips in there? Lol, I don't know. The appearance is as good as the iPhone's though. But of course you should exclude the type because that's a touch screen, and that's a normal mobile device with number pads. I can not compare it to any touch screen Nokia phones yet, because the only two ones that seem interesting are the N97 and the 5800 Express Music, so we'll see. Of course there was one touch screen Nokia phone back then but it sucked.

Oh I forgot to add, in case of availability and price, Nokia still pwns it hard :]. Because you can buy a Nokia phone for as cheap as an iPhone 3G with a service plan, but at least you'll get to MMS, Video Call, Copy & Paste, use Bluetooth how it was made to be - not just for bluetooth earphones, and last but not least download music and applications from the browser straight to the phone. Instead of having to jailbreak and all that headache.

People there are racist and arrogant. I don't look like Arabs AT ALL because I am Turkish, but I have the Egyptian passport. i won't pretend to have much first-hand experience with racism, but i can't imagine it's worse in the countries you listed than in the US. Just where in the US did you visit?

Manhattan and Brooklyn. A lot of the people there are Black, Asian, and Hispanic. So I don't think there isn't much of racism there. Plus, Americans aren't as arrogant and conceited as Europeans, especially English and French people. They are known to be pain in the ass and hard to live with. People in France actually refuse to speak in English even if they know how to, they are too proud of their language.
